If you aren't prepared to deal with the risk or price of modifying a car, keep the hood closed. I really like Greenfire, and he seems like a stand up guy. Because of that, I honestly hope he refuses the money and fixes his own car. Flame away...

The foreign brands can't do it because they use multi-cam engines and there's no clean way to deal with cylinder de-activation. The HEMI uses one cam so it's a lot easier. The Chrysler 300C/Dodge Magnum RT have HEMI engines that cut four cylinders at cruising speeds. The engine drops the cylinders in .04 of a second, and after driving them I couldn't tell when they were firing or not.

I just installed Hotchkiss sway bars on my Vibe and my steering wheel is off center. The wierd thing is the car still tracks pretty straight. Anyone else seen this? There didn't seem to be enough play in the subframe to throw the wheel off...

The "GR" in "GR2" stands for Gas Replacement. You are right in that they're O.E. style struts with pretty silver metallic paint. Found this out the hard way on an Eagle Talon years ago...

Clutches slip at high RPM before any other condition. That emergency brake/5th gear thing wouldn't tell you anything until the disc was totally spent. Here's the old-fashioned way to know if a clutch is slipping. Wide open in first gear to your torque peak, then shift into fourth and floor it. If you bog, your clutch is fine, if you don't bog, the clutch isn't holding.

You can remove springs yourself *IF* you have the corect spring compressors. I'd call Murray's. They do this free for people who buy struts from them. Call around and find one who won't charge an arm and a leg.

I wouldn't concern myself so much with CAIs vs. short rams. The power comes from eliminating the restrictions of the factory box/piping more so than temprature.
