OK, I am going to sound a bit dumb here, what exactly do aftermarket motor mounts do for a car?

The mounts are made of polyurethane and stiffer then the rubber mounts already on the car. If you were to look at factory mounts, you would notice voids in the rubber. These aftermarket mounts work with the factory mounts and fill the voids. The engine doesn't rock back and forth nearly as much as it does now. This helps to nearly eliminate wheelhop, as well as makes shifting easier.
