The go ahead for springs

Post by Merzbow »

I have recieved the go ahead to buy springs. I'm looking to get a 2" drop. Found a set of Drop Zones 2" springs for $100 or something like that. All I need now is new job and I can get them as soon as I get the cash. Might have to wait until my birthday in early August though. I'm excited! i'll post pictures if and when I get them in.

as far as I found the S-Techs only drop 1.5" don't they? If they had a 2" drop I would definately spend the extra cash

Keep you eyes peeled for S-Techs on eBay...I've seen several listed under $150.However, be careful on auctions from "www_ajdm_com" (AJDM=American Japanese Domestic Market). Got my H-techs from them FINALLY after 25 day wait. Price was good for the springs ($110) but bad for shipping/ins ($35).

I got my Tein S-Techs from http://www.adventon.com. I don't see them listed on the site now, but call their 800 number and check. They were the best deal around, better than ebay at the time when I bought them in April. I paid around $140 shipped. The drop is around 2.3-2.4 inches, see the pic in my signature below. It's a nice drop, but still clears all the curbs and bumps that I have encountered so far. Later,

If I take off the struts and take them to an autoshop to have them put the springs on, how much would it cost?

I'm still debating whether I'll do it myself...depends if I can get access to a decent spring compressor.

I installed my Tein myself and I not a mecanic at all.I just took my time (took 4 hours but anyways) and verified 3 times everything and I was no too hard to do.If you can get some air tools and a spring compressor, do it yourself and save the $$.

$120? That's rediculous! That's almost as much as the d*mn springs! Well, im buyin the exhaust first and I just got rear ended today and I can't tell my insurance company about it or they will like triple my rates. So I have to buy a new bumper with my own money.

I'd rather an experience mechanic do the dangerous stuff (i.e., spring compression) since I've never done it.Quote, originally posted by Merzbow »Well, im buyin the exhaust first and I just got rear ended today and I can't tell my insurance company about it or they will like triple my rates. Yeah, that's funny isn't it? Michigan is no-fault state, which means his insurance doesn't have to pay sh*t unless my car was parked in a spot...If I would have known that before I left the parking lot I would have beat his @$$ so I atleast got some satisfaction from the ordeal. I also could have filed a police report, however I am new to the whole accident thing since I am only 17 so I didn't know what to do except take down his number and name.

Merzbow,ALWAYS get a police report. Even though we live in a no-fault state, a police report establishing who caused the accident gives you the ammo to report the accident to your insurance and have them fix your car. Also since he was at fault, you can recoup your insurance deductible from him or his insurance company through our Minitort law. I've had a couple of accidents in MI that weren't my fault, and I've got my deductible money from the other guy each time before my car was even fixed.

Yeah, well after my mother b*tching at me about that I found it out. It's too late now. I gues next time I'll know what to do. Funny thing is there was a cop like 300yards away at the time.
