Ok, dredging up this old post to update my tire opinion....... Do NOT purchase Yokohama AVID ENVigor 205/55R16 91H! They were fine for 15,000 mikes or so and then a steering wheel shimmy set in mostly above 60 mph. I Rotated the tires and was good for a few thousand miles...... Steering wheel shimmy...

New bulbs are the place to start unless you've got a multimeter and you can verify 12volts at the plug.

Don't go making the problem a bigger one than it is. It is most likely burned out bulbs.

Most likely they both burned out, you didn't notice that you had only one bulb working until the 2nd one went out.

When you tap on it the jarring momentarily connects the broken filament creating light for a second.

The only trouble I see with your technique are the scratches on the lower part of the label that are the result of using the metal pick. (Look at the last photo in the tutorial.)
