AirCon seems to be tied to RPM

Post by theMikeD »

I have recently noticed that the A/C doesn't work too well unless the engine is spinning up to about 3k. At lower RPMs it works...barely. Is this a known problem?

Aircon is tied to RPMs. The A/C compressor is driven by a belt connected to the crankshaft. Are you sure that it's charged properly?

Mine is icey at idle. I think you may need a recharge. Or you may have a slipping compressor clutch or loose belt.

I agree, check your refrigerant level, if it s low (and it probably is) have them put in a dye charge which will help pinpoint the leak.
