2007 Vibe Transmission service at 160k

Post by oldsman350 »

Looking to service the transmission on my wife's 07 vibe with 160k miles on it. I had the transmission flushed by Toyota at 90,000 miles and about 130,000 i did a drain and refill. I'm need to do another drain and refill. My question is does the 07 have a tranny filter that needs to be replaced? Any specific bolt tightening instructions when putting the pan back on. I've read on some post that say some vibes don't have filters and some do. Mine is an 07 with the 1.8L.

The 07 has a screen in what looks like a filter housing. At 160,000 I'd drop the pan and the screen for sure and read what the pan debris has to tell you. "Gold" dust, a lot of metal on the magnet, etc. The oil pan is a story book about transmission health, as is your nose. Take a whiff of the oil, there should ot be an acrid burnt mell but an oil smell instead.

The pan bolts are NOT tight, I'll see if I can find the torque but it is quite low.

How about a bolt pattern for tightening?
