I would agree that the filter and drain plug are easy to get to, but the way the filter is mounted (at least on the Just be careful which drain plug you open. I find I get a bit of idle speed fluctuation as well, especially when stopped in hot weather and sitting in drive. I also find the idle a bit rough with the Vibe in gear, so if I'm stopped at a longer light, I generally shift into neutral, which seems to smooth out the idle.

With my '06 automatic FWD (same engine as the '08 automatic) I get about 30.5 mpg with about 80% highway driving. I've gotten as low as 28 when doing a lot of shorter trips and as high as around 34 when traveling.

I looked at my invoice from my repair and it was CEL code of P0607. I think all of the P060x codes are internal PCM related faults; so with very similar symptoms and a similar code, I would think it's almost certainly the PCM. Especially since there is a TSB (05-06-04-074A) on basically the symptoms...
