vibrologist: Sure, I am aware of the potential risk of buying the 1st year of a new model, but my 2004 Vibe was just the 2nd year of a brand new model and fortunately it turned out to be a great car. In any case my original post said I was thinking about buying a new car and maybe the Cruze; I'm cer...
God, not the Cruze. Please. Given your current automobile, why not go with the new Scion/Toyota iM? Looks good and is basically the VIbe/Matrix replacement and will probably be far more reliable in the long run. Has been great for a buddy of mine as a daily. Did you have bad luck with a Cruze? Have...
My 2004 is the best car I have ever owned. It has been *very* reliable, everything is original except for tires and battery. The check engine light is on, and indicates it's the cat, but the no complaints. The total cost of ownership has been very low and I still get 35+ mpg. I am thinking about a n...
Hi -I have a 2004 base with a 5 speed manual tranny. I have seen many threads about changing manual transmission fluid on this site, but the 2004 owners manual states:"Manual Transaxle FluidWhen to CheckA good time to have it checked is when the engine oil ischanged. However, the fluid in your ...
Quote, originally posted by tpollauf »Awesome report What's the mileage ? My 09 Vibe GT will easily be around 20+ years as it only sees 5k miles annually. Glad too so far that I bought a "classic" car seeing how they are no longer in production It has about 120K miles.
My Vibe is now 8 years old and I am happy to report I've had ZERO problems with this car. Nothing has failed, all I've done is routine maintenance (battery, brakes, tires). Wish the Vibe was still in production, but glad I own one.
I have started noticing a subtle clunking sound coming from the front of the car while driving. I hear it when I go over bumps, espcially while turning. It doesn't happen all the time, so I am having a hard time figuring out where it's coming from. Has anyone had this problem?
After 7 years of 100% reliability, my 2004 base vibe (manual tranny) is approaching 100K miles. I've never had anything done other than changing the oil myslef, replace air and oil filters, and coolant flushed a couple times. Just wondering if any special maintenance is required at the 100K mark? He...
Hi -Is there any maintenance that needs to be performed on a clutch? I have 78K miles on my 04 Vibe and am not having any problems, but was wondering if there is any required maintenance. Should a clutch be replaced after some number of miles - say after 120K miles? Thanks.
I guess Ive always planned on driving my Vibe until it stopped running(and the needed repair costs more than the vehicle is worth). Now that Pontiac is headed for oblivion and GM is about to go bankrupt, what do other folks on this forum plan to do?
I have about 78K miles on my '04. Runs great, and I've had no problems. The interior is in very good condition - I use this car for my daily commute, usually just me in it. The exterior is also good, but i noticed paint coming off under door area.
Pontiacs have been a part of my family as long as I can remember. My 1st recollection is my dad's 69 GTO called the "The Judge", bright orange, tach on the hood, burned high test. He also owned a 74 Trans AM - beautiful car, 455ci - had it for years with less than 20k miles. I've owned 3 P...
Just got mine done last week. The window was making a popping sound when being closed so it was good timing. I've had my Vibe for almost 5 years and this is the 1st time it's ever needed to be in the shop for a repair.

Well after 39,500 mi on my base vibe I finally got rid of my Contis. They were nosiy, produced a poor ride, and had lousy traction. I replaced them with a set of 4 Michelin Harmonys. Just got them yesterday, but the difference in ride comfort and nosie reduction is astounding. I am looking forward t...
Quote, originally posted by MiVibe-ToolGuy »Last night one finally faced its demise, a puncture in the side wall. My wife was not driving and it was a slow leak at work. At any rate I got 40,000 miles out of the original tires! Seems to me to be a rarity on the site too! I was going to replace all a...
What exactly did you do to get to the loose bolts? How did you remove the door covering without scratching / damaging it? My window ratlle seems to be getting worse. Thanks!
My commute is mostly on back roads so I average around 45 mph. I keep the RPMs down to around 2K and use Mobil Synthetic oil. I think the single biggest factor is driving style - slow starts, keeping the RPMs down, and not racing to stop lights / signs.
My fusion orange base is about to turn 3 in a few weeks and I am happy to report I've had zero problems with it. Yeah the windows rattle when half way down but other than that it runs great - plus, I've been getting 38 - 40 mpg and lovin' it!I do my own basic maintenance oil, filters, etc. and have ...
Hi Folks -I have a 2004 base with manual transmission with 31K miles. I have noticed in the past couple months that a ticking or clicking sound has developed and is becoming louder. It's coming from the engine area - specifically from a rectangular black box that seems to have something to do with t...
I've just noticed my 1st paint chips while detailing my Vibe. Two small specs on the hood and one on the driver side door. Despite the hood deflector and mud flaps, it still happened. Has anyone had success with touch-up paints on the Vibe?
Definitely. I've heard (and read) that you want to get as much oil as possible in the filter. I usually fill it half way then tilt it 45 degrees and keep rotating it - it's amazing how much oil the filter element absorbs. I keep doing this until it's saturated, then I fill it up and screw it on.I ha...

Thanks Fish - I plan to spend a good chunk of tomorrow doing just that! Just finished washing it (including engine compartment), so I'll be ready to try the clay in the morning. I snap a few pics when I'm done.
Don't ya just love Fusion!! Welcome aboard. I find folks either really love the color or not at all, no middle of the road with FO. There are about half a dozen Vibes where I work, mine's the only FO and it really stands out - in a nice way IMHO.How is your Vibe equipped?
Thanks for the comments. You know, I was 1st unsure about buying an orange car. I'd only seen pictures (from this site) and took a chance when I ordered my car from the factory. The dealer had none in stock. The last orange car I remember was my father '69 GTO. It was called "The Judge" - ...
Another question on clay bars - will a clay bar remove any existing wax or polish from the surface? If I use one, should I follow up with polish and wax?

I've got about 3 quarts of Mobil-1 5w30 and an unopened quart of Quaker State 5w30. Is it OK to mix these 2 on my next oil change? Will I in any way void the engine warrenty by doing this? Thanks.
My advice - sell your Vibe ASAP. If you really have so many dislikes about the car, you're going to hate every mile. Chalk it up as a bad choice and move on. Use your "bad" checklist on the next car, if it addresses most /all of the items in the list you should be much happier.
