Check out walmart. Goodyear Assurance tires if $$ is an issue...
Ive got the old version of Goodyear Reliant which is no longer available, other than being noisy, they are OK.
Costco tires are pretty good ....
Perhaps I missed it on your post.....
1) did you change all of your oil and return to 5-30 oil or keep the 10-40 oil mixture in your other post.
2) Did your rattle go away only after changing the solenoid ?
I had the opposite happen. My VVT rattle started at 120k miles, the rattle remained for approx 2 years, would only happen on start up and after troubleshooting I decided to use Mobil 1 High mileage oil. 5-30 . Within 3k miles, the rattle went away , never to return...... my guess is that the deterge...
Mission accomplished. I located the green/white wire connector at the actuator and finally figured out how to un-plug the connector. Wedge a very very small flat head screwdriver under the front of the connector to lift the front and allowed me to pull the plug. That did the trick Thanks for the adv...
I disconnected the connector in the picture...its the blower motor.
I will hunt for the green wire Joatman suggested via his manual....the search continues
The problem Ive seen from quite a few is that the part, even OEM part fails sooner than later and the struggle trying to fix the think is not something I want to do on a regular basis. So, the question is.... is there anything else other than the clicking motor going to get disconnected if the conne...
Recirculation plug.docx Ive got the infamous "clicking" sound from the dash. The recirculation button does NOT change the airflow from outside or inside. The outside air is only sightly coming through when on the freeway. I do not intend to bother w the actuator due to the "hassle fa...
Has anyone replaced their adjustable vent?
If so, how do you replace the entire swiveling vent? I have a donor car to pull the vent from, do I need to remove the dash to access the whole thing?
For Trans fluid I only buy Toyota Fluid from Toyota, you can also get it on-line.
Sounds like there is a conflict on your fluid, you may want to make absolutely sure you only use the correct type of fluid for replacement. Could be a big issue.
Hope it goes well.
3rd Generation Prius cars are notorious for oil burning due to oil control rings. Not saying this is "exactly" the same thing w your Vibe, but, I have read that some folks have successfully used additives to get the rings to loosen up. Some have poured some "Mystery Oil" Or Berry...
A friend who bought their Vibe at 20k, pulled out 2.5 qts at 90k miles and did it twice...then did the same thing at 200k...The car has over 250k miles now.... dont flush, just get "some" of the dirty fluid out , you will feel better and hopefully, the transmission will last many more mile...
wellll. Bottom line....the rough idle only on start up was a small head gasket leak... ended up getting a misfire code later on ... then doing the igniter swap and ingniter replacement, New spark plugs , MAF was cleaned, still rough idle. Coolant level started to go down..... Ended up using Bars HG1...
Wellllll. I just got a new vehicle.... I still have the Vibe, its now got 255k almost trouble free miles. And, I am not quite prepared to let her go when asked by a family member. I had intended to get a new vehicle when I hit 200k miles. I was gonna retire (from work) and the nice replacement vehic...
Invest in a good car stethoscope to try to locate the location of the noise....
so, if the engine is stopped for a few minutes , like to go into a store and get back in 10 minutes, it makes no noise....?
What is a Warm start? When you start up, the engine is cold, takes minutes to come to temp and car is then at appropriate temperature. How long does the noise last? Long shot.... loose bolt holding an alternator, A/C compressor/Exhaust manifold etc etc, that warms up and then does not make the noise...
Update: The original misfire was a head gasket (HG) leak. There were bubbles in the radiator as the engine warmed up and cap was left off to observe bubbles. Coolant color change kit was used and confirmed that it was a HG leak. The owner wanted to try Bars HG-1 Head gasket leak sealant. Instruction...
The saga continues.... BluDriver code reader indicated a system misfire, and misfire on cylinder 3 and 4. The day before the code indicator light came on the dash the serpentine belt broke and driver says she coasted to a stop but the temp gauge went to the top....... Well, plugs were changed, the i...
Picked up a Bluedriver reader / scan tool. Compared all the readings vs my own Vibe to her Vibe and there does not seem to be any parameters that are out of line in terms of MAP sensor, or Fuel trim readings etc I will check the intake manifold gasket this week. This all started when the battery die...
Thanks for the positive comment.
I was thinking of picking up a BlueDriver Pro OBD2 code/Engine reader.
There must be some scan that will pick up a vacuum leak ?
Unless someone says otherwise, it appears our Drive by Wire do Not have a IAC valve so, what then would control the Idle speed at load and no load. I assume its the Computer that learns your driving style.....but I have seen that some have to teach the computer to teach the idle speed in "DRIVE...
joatman, are you saying that there could be a vacuum leak at #4 cylinder position? If cold, gasket is contracted, when warm it expands enough to seal and idles well afterward ? Would this generate a code ? PO304
Hi all Struggling w cold start rough idle on 2006 Vibe. Not my car. The 2006 Vibe is Drive by WIre (DBW).... is there an IAC valve, if so...where is it. I am reading conflicting info. If you look up auto parts places, they have an IAC valve , but I have read that DBW Toyotas don't have a IAC valve. ...
Regarding Ebay or Amazon , after purchasing supposed OEM NGK spark plugs from Amazon, and before that, a MAF sensor that only lasted one year, I no longer purchase any electronic parts from Amazon or Ebay. I only purchase thru RockAuto. Looks like there are several variations of the sensor, AWD , GT...
Hi all Vibe 2006 140k miles , this was a engine swap a couple of years ago. Judging from what I see, it was a haphazard swap... bolts missing etc etc The idling problem started after the car died on her and the mechanic told her she needed a new battery, she says the alternator tested OK....after th...
You are indeed correct, this is not my vehicle, am trying to troubleshoot for someone else..... A/C compressor clutch pulley bolts loosened, caused pulley to wobble, threw the belt, and it "appears" the belt tore the wire. I just talked w the owner and since the wire was just connected, sh...
The Serpentine belt came off of A/C compressor as the compressor pulley loosened .The belt whipped and tore off part of black wire with white stripe going thru it. Shortly after we got PO300 and PO304 error code. After replacing plugs and one igniter and still got the same codes , the mechanic notic...

Was wondering on if there was a resolution. A few years ago I cleaned my MAF sensor and decided to clean it by lightly using a Q tip and the correct spray solvent for MAFs. I ended up damaging the very delicate sensor, I found a "new" one on Amazon and all was normal again. Two years later...
You may wanna read past posts on other owners experience, but, many state that the filter has pretty much been clean upon experience. For sure do two or three fluid changes and then decide if you want to drop the pan. Ive got 250k on my transmission and have only changed the fluid periodically. Yes,...
At 200k miles I decided to replace the brushes in my 2005 Vibe (only as a preventive measure) that alternator now has close to 250k miles and it continues to charge my battery well. If I decide to take my Vibe to 300k, I am concerned the alternator may go sooner or later .... This is the original al...
Ive used the 2K epoxy spray can and hoped it would be permanent..... it was put on a Lexus 2007 LS430. The coating lasted about 2 yrs and then started peeling. I dont know if its the heat from the bulb in the area closest to the surface of the headlight, but thats where it started peeling. I have si...
I had brake rotor warp symptoms and ended up replacing my rotors that fixed the issue , but that was before this article.
its a long pdf, but may help w your problem....
To original poster of the thread. Needing to change a catalytic converter is not typical. You may want to investigate the cause of the damage. Ive got a Vibe w 150km or 243,000 miles and so far, no issues showing. https://www.walkerexhaust.com/support/tech-tips/why-a-catalytic-converter-fails.html T...
As discussed in several threads..... Amazon "may not" be the best place to buy parts if you want to be absolutely sure you are receiving genuine parts Note that in this article it includes automotive parts. Rock auto is where many go for parts ....I know I have gotten bad spark plugs and l...
I've searched and could not find any answers...The round adjustable vents on the front dash that direct air in any direction will only stay full open or closed, it will no longer stay in a partial open position....have any of you fixed this problem?
Thanks
I just saw your post, the first thing I think of when parts need to be replaced this soon is counterfeit parts. you can google the topic for spark plugs etc etc....when it comes to electronics or electric parts I only go to RockAuto. Amazon or -bay has many sources that are counterfeit. I have had t...
Cptnsolo77 You mentioned low compression, did you do a before and after compression test to see if the compression improved? Glad you solved your longstanding problem. I will try a can of BG EPR in my engine oil prior to my next oil change soon. I posted previously about my experience w Royal Purple...
2005 Vibe 238K miles.... Ive been getting a pretty consistent 27.5 to 28 mpg since using Tier 1 Costco gas for the last 3 yrs. Starting 3 months ago, my MPG went down to 25 mpg....then in the last month, I was getting 23 and 24 MPG per tank. Air cleaner checked, OEM MAF sensor replaced last year and...
I do not have a definitive answer.... I have changed the engine oil at least every 5-6k miles since the car was one year old and have always used synthetic. And, yes, I was using 5-30 viscosity previously. the Hi Mileage Mobil One may have some cleaning properties the regular synthetic does not have...
I do my own oil changes, but wifes car...I have taken to the quick change place down the street.... I ALWAYS bring my own synthetic oil and filter. They charge me for labor... no probs when done that way and I am right there when they are doing the work.... their labor charge is $40 ....but, she onl...
