The Serpentine belt came off of A/C compressor as the compressor pulley loosened .The belt whipped and tore off part of black wire with white stripe going thru it. Shortly after we got PO300 and PO304 error code. After replacing plugs and one igniter and still got the same codes , the mechanic noticed the blk and white wire had a big piece missing.
After a new wire was soldered to the torn wire and re-connected to the plastic connector attached to the A/C unit the codes cleared up.
Does anyone know what this wire does, its connected to the alternator set of wires and to a connector mounted on top of the A/C compressor and goes backward into a nest of wires.
So, what signal does this wire send ???

That single black wire with white stripe is the wire that turns on the AC compressor clutch. I can't see a way that having that wire damaged would cause the P030X misfire codes.
Thread title says belt breaks, but post says belt came off. Did the belt actually break or just come off the pulley? If it just came off, did you address whatever caused it to come off?
Did you clear the codes after replacing the plugs and then they came back? Could be that the codes came from something related to having no belt, and then if not manually cleared, they went away coincidentally with the clutch wire repair after going through enough self tests, or perhaps were cleared with a battery disconnect when doing the clutch wire repair.

You are indeed correct, this is not my vehicle, am trying to troubleshoot for someone else..... A/C compressor clutch pulley bolts loosened, caused pulley to wobble, threw the belt, and it "appears" the belt tore the wire.
I just talked w the owner and since the wire was just connected, she says she now has A/C and did not have A/C for several years....the story is fuzzy.
Bottom line we now have a recurring PO304 error code and idling issues.....
I am going to re-post this issue in the Mechanical portion of Genvibe.
