I never said anything about engine flushes. If an engine is gunked, then it should be cleaned slowly using synthetic oil and more frequent oil and especially filter changes. Thanks for that. I have been filling with 4.5 quarts, which is above the "full" line on the dipstick. It looks like the engine is supposed to take 4.4 quarts, so I'm glad I've been "overfilling" by .3 quarts (the "full" mark is 4.2 quarts).

You should also replace the intake manifold gasket. If not, you'll have the 0420 code again in a year or at most two. Almost always in these vehicles it is the intake gasket issue that causes the cat to go bad.

Chances are good you screwed up your MAF by how you cleaned it. You aren't supposed to touch it with anything or use harsh solvents. You did both. A can of MAF sensor cleaner is $7 at most auto parts stores.

Check the fuse. Do you have the ability to apply a current to the blower to see if it spins with current applied to it? Often auto parts stores will do this for you if you go in with the blower. With no speeds, though, chances are it is a fuse.

I got an intake manifold gaskeet from my Toyota dealer a few days ago and it is part number: 17171-22060. Made in Japan. It is sort of a rust orange color. They said it is the only part number available to them for an intake manifold gasket for the 1zz engine.
