I am not a 2nd gen guy, but I'll post my thoughts, worth exactly what you are paying for them. :D 1. Accessory belt: Never changed. Are there any hard recommendations for a replacement? I prefer to watch eBay for new old stock Goodyear Gatorback belts. They are the quietest belt I have ever used. Be...
I am registered as participant number 20 for this years Vibestock.
I took my Abyss Black AWD last year.
I will be taking my Lava Red AWD this year.
See you in May!
Do a little research reading:
Pontiac Vibe recirculation actuator clicking noise or
Pontiac Vibe blend door actuator problem.
That may lead you to the source of your HVAC problem.
I saw the board was down yesterday.
When I tried today I had to login again.
I had hopes that maybe my avatar option may now be available, but alas, it was not to be.
SO, this is my 8th request to have the avatar feature repaired on the GenVibe BB.
Welcome to the site. It is generally a lot easier to find the Toyota number for me. More searching could come up with he GM part number. Hub & Bearing - Toyota (42450-02170) 2009-2019 Toyota from this web page: https://parts.toyotadm.com/oem-parts/toyota-hub-and-bearing-4245002170 There are MANY...
Hello and welcome to the forum. I can't confirm using a Toyota accelerator pedal in your Vibe as I don't have a 2nd Gen Vibe. I know most parts are interchangable between the Vibe and Matrix and I use that interchangability a lot on my 1st gen cars. You may want to look a different direction, toward...
Check the coolant level in the radiator when the enine is cold.
The overflow bottle can show full but the radiator can still be low.
If that is OK then I would replace the thermostat.
Yes.
The link takes you to exactly what I ordered for 3 of my Vibes.
They fit , look and work great.
I have not tried the rear mats so I can't vouch for them.
I love Weather Tech mats in my Vibes. You might as well just purchase a new set from Weather Tech. I rarely see used sets for sale, and when I do they are pretty trashed. Just select mats for Toyota Corolla with the heat vents, and you are good. Here is a link: https://www.weathertech.com/floorliner...
If I were you I would find a body shop that can pull the code for you, I think it takes a special scanner to read the airbag codes. I had two airbag recalls done on my 04 and still got a light a few years later. I don't remember the code but if I remember right it pointed to the clock spring in the...
Good Luck with that request! I actually found / purchased an Abyss Black ground effects kit NOS from a dealer earlier this year. The part number is 12498875 I believe. I plan to replace the 20 year old original pieces on my Abyss vibe over the winter. https://i.imgur.com/MP1XRGc.jpeg https://i...
I can confirm that the radios do not need a code if you get a replacement that came from a Vibe.
I have changed from single CD to 6CD changer also with no problems.
This is on 03, 05 and 06 Vibes.
Is your Vibe an AWD model?
If so, they have a unique exhaust pipe gasket, much different than the FWD cars.
Even my Toyota dealer failed to get me the correct gasket, but NAPA had it.
Hello salamander162, Your Vibe is spec'ed out with very desireable options. The wheels, spoilers and the ground effects kit all add good value. The higher mileage and leaking sunroof detract quite a bit from the value. I was somewhat interested in it myself, so I read thru your old posts. Did you ge...
We will need more information to make an educated guess for your request.
Mileage?
Drivetrain condition?
Body and Interior condition?
New parts due to repairs?
Colors and options?
Pics always help.
I have seen 2004 GTs listed from $1,500 to $6,000 in the last few years.
Yes. These are all common problems and very repairable. 4 of 5 Vibes I have purchased needed 1 or both HVAC bulbs replaced. That is not an easy job. I have found heat shrink tubing that just fits over the bulb glass is the solution to getting them installed. The radio lights are a known problem and ...
I have used the 3M, Sylvania and Cerakote kits on Vibe hedlights. I prefer the Cerakote kit for ease of use and best results. It happens to be the least expensive also, got mine at Walmart. The trick is to get the sanding done completely and don't screw up the ONE PASS application of the last step. ...

UPDATE!!! found one, black gt, monotone package, dual spoilers, arizona car, 134k miles, thank you for all the help!
Congratulations!
What year did you get?
Sounds like a nice one.
Please post some photos of it after you get it!
Hello GenVibe Admins, Here is my 7th request to have the avatar problem fixed. (LUCKY #7? :D ) As a Vibestock 2025 award winner, I would like to update my avatar with my newest Vibe. I would sincerely appreciate it if one of you could investigate and repair the avatar problem that surfaced in 2022. ...
KYB was the OEM provider of struts / shocks on the Vibe.
I have tried Monroe and prefer the KYB units.
Finding something better will be tough.
I recommend shopping at Rock Auto for the best price on struts.
Hello, I have two 2006 AWD vibes. I have heard that the 1st gen and 2nd gen rear differentials are the same except the 2nd gen has electric coupling instead of friction / hydraulic coupling. If that is true, there is a diff for sale on Facebook marketplace for $400: https://www.facebook.com/marketpl...
It has been another 15 months, and I still can't add (re-add) my avatar.
I would sure like to be cool like joatmon and get my avatar back.
Can you assist me with that request?
Pretty Please?
This still happens but is manageable for me. I check for new posts first, read them, then I go back to the main forum page. There I see more highlighted new posts that are older, so I click and read them. It would be nice to see all new posts when I hit the "new posts" button in quick link...
These cars would be much more difficult to maintain without the Toyota parts availability. The Toyota parts guys here know a Vibe is the same as a Matrix, but I always have to give them Toyota part numbers, or have them look up the Toyota part number by description. One way around that is to tell th...
Tires were P205/55R16 on alloy and steel 16" wheels from the factory. I see nothing in documentation that states differently. Owners may have installed different sized tires later on. Lug nuts ARE different on steelies vs. alloy. For steel wheels, the nut is plated, is lug centric (angled on th...
I too registered the other day. I think I'm participant #4. At least under "Auto ID" it has "004" there. If that is what that means. Looking forward to this meet again ;) Did you book a hotel room? Closest / best price I found was the Holiday Inn Express in Chesterfield. I didn'...
Hello CG, Welcome to the super quiet GenVibe website. I know nothing about 2nd gen cars, I am a 1st gen guy. However, a differential is the same in both gens. Yes, both tires need to spin the same direction at the same time, thats how the car moves on the ground. When you spin one tire and the...
Welcome to the forum, fellow Iowan! And welcome to Vibes. They can be addictive. I did the same thing for my daughter. Purchased a Frosty White 2003 and fixed everything. I liked it so much I bought a well optioned Lava Red 2006 AWD for myself after I gave her the '03. She wrecked the '03 3 times, w...
I agree with Andrew that your "second overdrive " is actually your torque converter lockup. If you only hear the tick in lockup it may be because the engine noise is much lower in lockup. You may be hearing something that is always there at a low level you don't notice until the engine noi...
I probably should have used the word quiet instead of smooth. If your belt is worn or contaminated it usually makes excessive noise. If your tensioner is worn it can cause various noises in the belt area. All 4 of the Vibes I have owned, 140k thru 190k miles, sounded much better after a belt / tensi...
When you replace the alternator it contains the voltage regulator also. Be careful where you source the replacement alternator from, and confirm the warranty. Also, I would replace the belt (clean all of the pulleys), and the tensioner if it is still original with 180k miles. I always enjoy how smoo...
