Hey everyone I’m having a frustrating issue and hoping someone here might’ve already figured this out.
I have a 2010 Pontiac Vibe AWD with the 2.4L engine, and my vibe needs the Accelerator pedal with position sensor replaced because my local mechanic told me the accelerator pedal assembly with the position sensor is bad and needs to be replaced. The GM part number I’ve been told I need is 19205346, but that part is discontinued and basically impossible to find.
I’ve searched everywhere online and nothing is available as a OEM GM part. My mechanic basically told me there’s nothing that can be done because GM doesn’t make it anymore and there aren’t any left in stock anywhere.
A few people online have mentioned that Toyota accelerator pedal assemblies (like from a Matrix or Corolla) might work since the Vibe and Matrix are essentially the same platform and share the electronic throttle system. The Toyota OEM pedal part numbers I see referenced most often are things like:
• Toyota 78110-08010 / 7811008010
• Toyota 78110-07011
It seems these parts include the pedal and position sensor. My big questions are:
1. Has anyone here successfully used a Toyota pedal (like 78110-08010 / 7811008010) in a 2010 Pontiac Vibe?
• Did it plug in without modifications?
• Did it bolt in and work perfectly, or did you need to do any wiring/harness adapters?
2. Does anyone know of another source for the original GM part #19205346?
• Or any GM part number that supersedes i.e., a newer GM pedal assembly that does fit?
3. Are there any other compatible aftermarket pedals with position sensors that will work with the Vibe’s wiring?
My mechanic says nothing can be done because the part is discontinued, but I’m hoping someone here has a workaround. I really don’t want this car to be totaled over one part that might technically still exist somewhere!
Thanks in advance if anyone has experience with this or can point me in the right direction!
