I replaced my stock Goodyear RSA"s with Kelly Navagtor Gold 12K miles ago. I found them to be better in the snow. Kelly-Sprinfield is owned by Goodyear.

PS---Also avoid the ethanol crap as keithvibe suggests. I lose about 2mpg as well as some performance when running on that junk. Nothing but an environmentalist whacko scam and its driving up corn prices.

I think the rear seal on my transfer case is leaking. I get a few spots on the garage floor when I don't drive the car for a couple days. Agree you lose about 3MPG in an AWD Vibe vs a base. Still, it's hardly a gas hog unless you have your foot to the floor all the time. You'd be hard pressed to find an AWD vehicle except perhaps a hybrid Ford Escape that delivers better gas mileage. I'm getting about 30MPG driving mostly highway back...

Real disappointment that the AWD Vibewill go away in 07. There is demand for fuel efficient AWD vehicles but as usual, GM finds a way to blow opportunities. Oh well, guess I can always consider an AWD Dodge Caliber or a Subaru Forester.

AWD does work in reverse. I backed up on my snow covered street and looked out the door as I was doing so and my back wheels were spinning.I also called Pontiac and they confirmed that the Versatrak AWD system does work in reverse.

Merlin, I don't think stepping down to an S or T speed rated tire is such a bad thing. If nothing else, youi'd probably get longer wear. Digger,I know what the owners manual and everyone here says about rotation but the more I think about it, your tire guy has a good point about criss crossing. I think it's common sense that you'd definitely get even wear and if you don't have directional tires, what's the harm?

It's 1AM and this is really bugging me. So I put on my reading glasses, crawled under the car, stuck my head close to the oil pan and sure enough I can see a metal washer between the drainplug and oil pan. You're right, it must have stuck to the pan. Thanks.

My 05 AWD came with Eage GS-A's. I think they're directional and you're not supposed to criss corss directional tires. I just did min at 5,000 miles and went front to back.I briefly owned a Subaru Forester and the owners manual prescribed rotating them front to back.

I just squirt mine off with the hose and sling it over a 6 foot step ladder. Often, mine is still a little wet when I put it back on but i have a garage and I think it dries out as you drive. I like the vacuum suggestion. I may try that next time and only use the hose when it gets realy dirty.

I use whatever 5W-30 dino is on sale and change every 3 to 4,000 miles. Valvoline, Penzoil, Havoline, Shell, Exxon, Citgo, Proline to name a few.
