What head unit are you using? You should be switching from radio to ipod by using the band button. Do you have xm? If you do, did you disconnect the tuner? By that I mean did you pull the sub out of the passenger rear quarter and unplug the antenna at that location?

The problem with taking the 12 pin out of the harness is that the radio doesn't think the xm exists. I then can't use the adapter because when I change the source using the band button, all I get is fm and am.As for the volume issue, adjusting the volume on my ipod does nothing.

The harness "GM 3" doesn't have a ground wire. It just has the power wire that calls for constant 12volt.
