icruise does work with 05 HU

Post by dan326 »

If you have the single in dash cd HU, the icruise will work contrary to what anyone might say. There are a few issues to note.First, if you have the xm radio, it will not work when the icruise is hooked up. You will use the band button to activate your ipod, but to make things more confusing, you will still have the xm stations showing up on the HU display. It is helpful to use the display unit that is optional.Second, you need to navigate your music by way of playlists. You can change your playlist by using button 5. You can have as many playlists as you want however.Third, it is difficult to scan for songs. From what I can tell, you use buttons 1 and 2 to move up 1 track at a time. You use buttons 3 and 4 to move up 10 tracks at a time.Fourth, I am not sure if you can shuffle your playlists. Button 6 states that random is either on or off, but I didn't listen to the songs to see what would happen. The sound quality is so far above and beyond the itrip or any other fm modulator, that I find I can overlook some of the other navigation challenges.

For people looking for more information, here's the site: http://www.monstercable.com/icruze/It's a Monster Cable product, and looks pretty well designed. It's good to know it actually -works- with our radios. Now, from what he's said, the negatives would break the deal for me, especially with an MSRP of $349.90 for just the basic hardware. IF you want to connect your iPod to your 04-05 Vibe, this DOES work. But, take heed of the review that Dan posted. Ps. Dan, we're never quite sure what products will work with the factory radios, so we tend to be negative right off the bat. Early on, we've had a lot of dissapointments as far as connecting aux-inputs to the factory radios, so many of us are a bit skeptical at first, and tend to be a little weary of new things. Nothing against you, we just try not to get our hopes up too much!

I am currently researching which one to buy and am leaning toward the ipod2car. The icruze may have a few more features but I like the fact that the ipod2car still lets you control playback from your ipod. The icruze disables this. Also looks like the icruze requires you to set up playlists and the ipod2car does not. And as you mentioned ipod2car cost much less.

The icruise is over priced. It didn't work after all is said and done. I went to the ipod2car as well.
