So I woke up super early this morning to finish soldering up the wire connectors (Metra wire harness 70-2003 to Alpine CD-9856 wire harness). Before the finishing touches, I went outside with a meter and verified that the red wire (+12v power supply from the cars wiring harness) was actually switche...
Hello, I'm in the process of replacing my OEM base radio/CD player with an Alpine 9856. I have a few questions based on what I learned in prior postings here and from MatrixOwners.com:1. I'm using the Metra (metraonline.com) Wire Harness 70-2003, and My question has to do with a warning in the wirin...
Here is a pic of me during a weekend of fishing during Memorial Weekend '05. This was taken in Grayling, MI. Coming from SE Michigan we refer to anything above Saginaw, MI as "UP NORTH".
Has anyone felt a decrease in low end torque after installing the magnaflow catback? Do you find yourself giving it more gas to keep up with stop and go traffic?
3.9 quarts with an oil change (this is for the Base 2 Fwd).Never heard of Royal. Using Mobil 1 5w-30 in mine. They got a good deal going on right now by where I live. $23 for 5 quarts + filter(DOH....sorry about that. I re-edited my post. I was working on my wifes car today. It's a SAAB and it took ...
Hi there, Does the Injen CAI go into the driverside fenderwell? So like when you go to install does this mean removing the driverside wheel, and the plastic shields that line the inside of the fender?
By the way, here is a pic of something that was made in Japan, and then Americanized. So might fall under what your looking for, maybe not....you decide....
SAAB 92X = Subaru WRX...If I remember correctly, 85% of the car is built in Japan. Check the origin of parts sticker on the car. It's usually next to the sticker on a new car at the dealership. Funny world we live in now......and I think it's all because of Cable TV, Internet, and Cellphones.
Ok, Ok, Ok.......Oh my.....did not mean to start a flame war between GM and Toyota. If anything, I've learned that the people in this thread focus primarily on 1. Reliability2. Build Quality3. Looks4. Performancethis was interesting. Again, I was just daydreaming, and nothing more. I work in an area...
Mavrik, Vibe is already available as an AWD. I figure you would need new axle shaft lengths, stiffer suspension, new engine mounting locations, new exhaust piping, new wiring harnesses, battery location, new radiator/intercooler locations...etc..Impossible? Hey if they can stuff a 5.0 in a miata.......
Ok, Ok....just day dreaming here at work during lunch. I read on another post that the 2007 Vibe might have a different drivetrain all together...so with my krazy imagination here is what GM has at it's disposal....A Vibe with a V6 would be nice. There's plenty of room in the engine bay for one that...
37 here and I question whether I'm too old to put a Magnaflow on my Vibe. If I get a resounding NO WAY, Get one Your not that old! Then I guess I will have no excuse but to do so.By the way, I've been blurting out the word Magnaflow around my wife. She asks me what the hell is that, and I just reply...
Geekster dude, How do you like your Magnaflow? And....the big question of course is "How Old Are You????" Gotta ask that question, because if I get a Magnaflow, the wife will as she always.....start with...."when will you ever grow up???"(Born Again Geek
I've been seeing Ford GT's at a "Ford GT" build shop on the Northwest side of Maple Rd and Stephenson Hwy. It's about 1/4 mi west of the intersection. I say build shop because you can see right into the shop, and they've got Ford GT chassis' on racks. They also have a showroom that often h...
'05 Silver Vibe w/5 spd manual.Almost went for the GT, but didn't like the bottom end torque (there lackoff). I wanted the Base with a Supercharger (and was ready to pay for it), but was told by my dealer the current '04 run of superchargers would not work because of the new electronic throttlebody ...
Hello Brian, I feel for ya bud. This happened to me about 10 yrs ago right at 11mi/Coolidge. I was at the red light and stopped. I don't know what made me look at the rearview mirror, but man, I saw this chick looking down at her radio, and she was not braking at all (driving a 4dr Chevy Lumina). I ...
So what car will you be taking down Woodward during the cruise? It seems like every year more and more people are starting way to early. A few weeks ago, I saw a Ford GT cruising up and down. There's also some guy in an Orange Protege that's been cruising around latley.Anyhow, a line of Vibes/Matrix...
It looks like the car's suspension was raised so it could clear manhole covers, potholes, and of course driveway entrances/exits. I was taking the pics with my cellphone (isn't technology just wonderful!), driving my 5 speed in stop and go traffic, and talking to someone on the phone at the same tim...
I'm a failure analyst for a company that manufactures parachutes....OK I'm kidding......Actually, I'm in the business of catching Great White Sharks for Aquariums around the world.....Well, OK I'm lying....Let's see.....I run around with this hot looking babe of a partner and we both work for a secr...

I'm not to far away. 11 mi and Greenfield area. I checked out Borla's website, and they don't make a catback for the base Vibe...doh. Anyhow, I was suprise to see that it was $100 less for the GT as compared to the Magnaflow (MSRP of course). My neighbor just had a baby, and the kid's room faces my d...
Hello Waxler and Brian, Thanks for the replies. Brian, is that a Borla cat back or just the muffler? I'm more interested in the Magnaflow (cheaper). But it's nice to know another Vibe owner who's done mods nearby! Waxler, yup, let me know when you get it installed. I definitely want to hear it. I ca...
I'm really contemplating on purchasing a Magnaflow cat back for my '05 Vibe (base), but I'd like to hear it first and at least take a ride in a Vibe with one. Anyone in Royal Oak, Birmingham, Berkley, Beverly Hills, Michigan with one? I can meet you anywhere on Woodward (infamous Woodward Cruise str...
I just picked up these neat valve caps that have a built in pressure indicator. Let's you know whether your 10 psi below the recommended tire pressure.http://www.victorautomotive.net/pdfs/vic/vth3.pdfBy the way, running your tires at the maximum rated pressure will only accelerate the wear of the tr...
Hi there, I got my Eibach Pro-Kit from Discount tire. I think they were around $250.00 (free shipping). And it took about 4 days for delivery.I like them alot. They've reduced the roll and pitch of the car dramatically. However, I must add that stiffer shocks are probably needed. When you combine a ...
Nsimkins, Thanks! Got them installed today. Whew. Took me 5 hours. The time was taken up by the spring compressor bolts. Hand cranking them was a total chore. Wish I had an air tool on hand. The Vibe looks awesome. I noticed right a way that the dip in the front when braking is GONE. Also, it stays ...
Hello there, Ordered my Eibach Pro Kits last Thursday, so it should be arriving sometime this week. Got a question regarding the rear upper shock mounts. How do you get to the nuts that hold shocks onto the body? Do you have to remove the entire plastic panels along both sides of the trunk? I did not...
Hello, I learned how to operate a clutch on my uncle's old but well taken care of Honda 400 motorcycle. I think it was a '74 and I was learning to riding it around in '86. Basically, once you get the feel of a clutch you can easily transfer what you learned to another vehicle. My first manual car wa...
