3.9 quarts with an oil change (this is for the Base 2 Fwd).Never heard of Royal. Using Mobil 1 5w-30 in mine. They got a good deal going on right now by where I live. $23 for 5 quarts + filter(DOH....sorry about that. I re-edited my post. I was working on my wifes car today. It's a SAAB and it took six point three quarts. Got the two mixed up in my head somehow.) Didn't mean to confuse anyone else.

Hi Arc-Element,Please don't try to put 6.3 quarts of oil in your Vibe. The total for the Base is 3.9 Quarts, the GT holds 4.8 quarts.I tried Royal Purple on my last Oil Change. I was surprised to see that it was actually Purple! I dunno, I guess I assumed it was just a gimmick and not the actual color.I won't be doing the extended drain intervals but it's still cheaper than what I was paying for RedLine oil (which wasn't red!) Advance Auto pulled the Redline stuff from the shelves so won't be using that till I can get it again.I put the RP Oil in after an oil change with Mobil 1. The engine was definitely more quiet, felt smoother. The same improvement I felt/heard when I went from reg oil to Mobil one way back on one of my first oil changes. It's not much more than Mobil One. Seems to be better in terms of sound and engine smoothness. I'd judge for yourself but it's a good oil for sure. One thing I noticed is that it seemed to have a smell more like Manual Tanny oil. Don't know what this means, I'd assume it's because of the higher quality because Manual Tanny oil costs much more and has more specific additives in it. Try the RP, let us know! Just be sure to use a good quality Filter too! I'd suggest K&N.Dave

Thanks for the reply's. I think i will go ahead and switch to Royal Purple, to many great raves about this stuff. I will also be using the K&N oil filter as well. Can't wait to see the difference. I'll let everyone knows how it turns out.

I forgot to ask, but I have 18,000 miles on the Vibe. Is it ok to switch to Royal Purple? I've read elsewhere that switching around 20,000 miles may cause oil leaks or other problems. Thanks for the help.

Direct from Royal Purple's site...Can I put Royal Purple® into my brand new car?Yes. Royal Purple® currently offers many viscosity grades of API Licensed Motor Oils. (See the Royal Purple® Motor Oil Product Page or visit the API Engine Oil Licensing and Certification Website for more information). To allow for proper break in of the engine, Royal Purple® recommends waiting until the manufacturer's first scheduled oil change or a minimum of 2,000 miles in new gasoline engines. Allow 8,000 to 10,000 miles before using Royal Purple® in diesel engines. You can get more info at http://www.royalpurple.com/Dave
