2006 battery disconnect for DIY

Hi all. I'm finally getting around to replacing my Pontiac Vibe's (2006) blower motor and blower motor resistor. I'm going to try to do it myself. Very newbie question though. I hear conflicting info on this: which terminal do I disconnect first? For that matter do they both need to be disconnected?...

Re: I'm so confused, Re: AC, blower, resistor, etc...

You say that sometimes the fan blows with low force even when the knob is set to high. When the fan is off, but you're driving around, the car movement will push some air though the system, giving the impression that the fan is running at low speed. To determine if the fan is actually running but a...

Re: I'm so confused, Re: AC, blower, resistor, etc...

If the fan speed sounds the same when the air flow changes you probably have a blend door problem. There are 2 doors, hot / cold and recirculate. I would check the operation of the doors and actuators. Maybe something is broken or disconnected. Just something else to consider.... I had that too but...

I'm so confused, Re: AC, blower, resistor, etc...

Hi all... I'll give some background. My AC was doing this thing where, no matter what speed it was set on, the force the air was blowing at would vary/be intermittent. For example, you'd be driving for a few minutes with it set on high and suddenly it's still blowing but at a very low force. Let's s...

Re: AC was fixed... but wasn't? 2006 Base Vibe

I misunderstood, sorry. It will never go from a lower speed to higher. What I mean is, let's say it's set to the highest speed and I turn a corner, suddenly despite still being set at high, it'll start blowing with the lowest force. It'll do that for a short while and seemingly go back to full force...

Re: Was I scammed? (Pontiac Vibe 2006)

I went to the honest guys today and yeah, I don't have TPMS sensors. They described the abs sensor and modulator (?) that need fixing. It'll be $350. That actually does save me $150.

Re: Was I scammed? (Pontiac Vibe 2006)

Well, I got a refund. They flat out admitted trying to fix it and not knowing how. They think the problem has to do with something pertaining to the ABS that goes beyond just the sensors but don't know what. I got a place lined up to go to that the honest guys recommended. I did try to reset both ma...

Re: Was I scammed? (Pontiac Vibe 2006)

That is true, 03-08 vibes use the anti-lock sensors to activate the TPMS light. There are no "in tire" sensors on these years. Ask the mechanic for the old sensors. He won't be able to produce them because they never existed. Then ask for a refund. Let us know how it goes. I hate shady me...

The shady place did refund me because they realized that they have no clue how to fix it and it is abs related. I have an appointment with a reputable place tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

Was I scammed? (Pontiac Vibe 2006)

Okay. Rather than going to the shop that replaced my sensors I went to a nearby tire place to see if they could activate them. The tire shop guy explained that an '06 Vibe doesn't use TPMS sensors. It's looking like the mechanic I went to installed them for no reason, since my make, model and year d...

Re: TPMS sensor reset issue?

When I had my original tires replaced a couple years ago (dry rot, not worn out) the shop that did it tried programming them to a 2009 Vibe GT but were unsuccessful. When I showed up to pick up the car, they told me their dilemma. These were done at a shop that pretty much does semi tires and rarel...

Re: TPMS sensor reset issue?

to be honest, I know little about TPMS issues You said that "I just got back from having the sensors fixed" Did they actually replace some or all of the sensors? In the video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dqGfk1V625M the guy says that TPMS sensors have ID numbers, and that when you r...

It's been 3 days and still no reset...

Now I'm getting worried. Surely in 3 days the TPMS should've reset...? I've driven for well over 30 minutes and 15 of it well over 50mph. What now? Thanks.

Re: TPMS sensor reset issue?

Wait. I see conflicting info. Some places say at least 50mph, some at least 19. Some at least 15 minutes, others at least an hour. Which is it?! :( also, is it at once or cumulatively? I have health problems where I can't drive at 50mph, nor can I drive an hour at one time. The manual method i found...

TPMS sensor reset issue?

Hi again. So, I just got back from having the sensors fixed. He said I need to drive for at least 5 minutes at at least 20 mph. I did 30ish for 15 and the tire pressure still is blinking with the abs and brake lights on, as it was before. Did I just not drive fast enough/long enough or should I take...

Re: AC was fixed... but wasn't? 2006 Base Vibe

The blower speed is what I meant, yep. Bumping it helps, yep. That's all it is, a resistor? It's odd that he did all the other work but didn't notice that. Maybe he didn't have the part. Thanks so much for the info. The arm I can probably do but the resistor thing it looks like I'm going back to the...

AC was fixed... but wasn't? 2006 Base Vibe

Hi again. I just got back from having my AC fixed and noticed on the drive home that, although it does work again (the blower didn't turn on at all before) it still has issues. The force will change from highest to lowest and back again during certain turns, bumps in the road, etc. This is part of w...

Re: Introduction and a few dilemma questions...

They must break much too easily. This is the 3rd time since I've had it, 2014. Yep. Pretty sad :( Several of us have replaced this part more than once! Due to multiple circumstances I can't get any of this repaired anyhow so it looks like I'll just have to deal with it all for now, unfortunately.

With #3 but won't that mean it doesn't actually cool or heat? The easy way to verify that this is happening is to hit the recirc button, and if the noise stops, you've verified Now that you mention it, when it first started I used to do that to stop the clicking. It no longer stops it now for some ...

Re: Introduction and a few dilemma questions...

1. I'm no help on this one 2. It could be the blower motor itself , the Heater fuse, or the Heater relay. It is not the blower resistor, (even with the blower resistor disconnected the blower will still run at top speed) -The heater fuse is a big box fuse in the under dash fuse block. -The heater r...

Re: Introduction and a few dilemma questions...

Justin - I can't help with #1 but since it looks like that code can be different causes (speed sensor, wiring, sensor ring, ABS module), this one could be expensive and frustrating if the shop does not diagnose it properly. #2 looks to be a few hour job and the part is less than $100 depending on t...

Introduction and a few dilemma questions...

Hi all. I have a black Pontiac Vibe from 2006. Its needed thousand in repairs over the years so that's nothing new to me but I'm in a bit of a pickle and could use some answers. I needed lots of repairs last July that I'm still paying off ($2,000) and now I have THREE new problems... 1. Codes C0215 ...
