Re: need advice on uprgading brakes (tcam)

Which type of Brembo's were you thinking of? The slotted, cross drilled, or plain? I have the plain Brembo's on my other car (Focus) and they were slighly cheaper than the OEM ones (in Canada anyway). And even the plain Brembos offer great value. I've had them now for over a year (about 10,000 miles...

Re: Pics of rotors and EBC pads being installed (Atomb)

Sorry for the LATE reply The Brembo rotor/Akebono pads comb cost about C$180 from Tirerack. Once the UPS brokerage fee was added it was another C$100. Bunch of crooks. But still well worth the price. Gonna get the same combo for the rear of the Vibe; the rotors are VERY rusted.

Re: Winter tires (Benny)

Not having visited Minnesota I can only imagine that you get similar winters to southern Ontario. In any case, here is what you should consider: when doing mostly city driving where the streets and freeways will be plowed within 24hrs of a major snowfall, you're better off with ice tires. You'll get...

I'm partial to Pirellli's myself. The PZero Nero M+S is a fantastic summer performance tire without the cost of the Dunlop. I also hear that for the price, the Avon Tech M550 is a great tire. If you want a good all season tire that performs well in wet & dry, check out the BFGoodrich Traction T/A.

Re: Pics of rotors and EBC pads being installed (Psychobroker)

I installed Akebono's on my other car (Ford Focus). I also replaced the rotors with solid Brembo's. This combo was highly rated on tirerack.com (for the price). 10000+ miles and barely any wear on either the rotors or the pads. It'll likely go on the Vibe when the time comes to replace those. Highly...

So it has finally happened. I wasn't paying attention to the setting on the torque wrench (put on the summer wheels for my Focus a week ago which requires 94 ft/lbs) and I thightened the lug nuts. One lug nut just kept turning and turning... grrr... So now I have to replace the stud. Does anyone hav...

What kind of wheels are you winter tires on? Aftermarket or stock? I bought aftermarket steelies and they weren't PERFECLY hub centric. No matter what I did I could not get the vibration to go away. I know it's not a suspension problem because the summer tires (Dunlops on 17" wheels) are perfect.

Re: Help: Are Studded Snow Tires Illegal on a Vibe?? (MadBill)

Following the state law would require any high performance sports car, example as a Porsche 911, to have Z rated snow tires (that's the base 911's tire speed rating)? I've yet to see any performance snow tire with a rating higher than V. Don't make sense to me.

Is it normal for the driver's side floor mat (not the carpet itself but he standard Vibe mat) to wear so quickly? The mat's carpeting is worn down to the rubber right under the gas pedal in an area that's about the size of a quarter. I guess it's caused by the heel of my shoe but I have less than 11...

The clutch on the GT is definitely more "delicate" than on any other car that I've driven. But once I got used to it, I never had the problem. I also lease a Ford Focus ZTS 5 speed (my second Focus) and I've never had the burning smell with that and I drive it a lot harder than the Vibe. M...

I'd love to see what the stock GT wheels look like chromed! Early winter would a perfect time to get it done, just after the snowtires go on. Any idea how well the chromed parts hold up to weather and a carwash?

I didn't worry much about 15" tires on my GT (17" stock tires). Lots of people on this board went with 15"s. As long as you have the right tire diameter & the right wheel (like steelies from a Corolla, which have to correct bolt pattern (5x100) & offset (38-42mm)), the car wil...
