Icing up Inside

Has anyone had this problem occur? Temperature around -8 celcius (15 F) and I had more ice on the inside of my windows this morning than the outside! I have never had this occur and wondered if anyone else had the same problem (my car is over a year old) Thanks for any feedback

Thanks a lot Salsa-I will try that. It just seemed odd because it was iced up before I started the car. Once again-your advice is much appreciated!

I often leave my selector to defrost/foot, and I've never had this problem. I'm guessing it's because my car is in the garage overnight, so it doesn't get as cold, compared to if it were left outside. For example, only -2°C in my garage this morning, a balmy -15°C outside! Last night's low was only -26°C! Ahh, winter Now if the ski hills would just open...

We had a cold snap start before Halloween, 6-8" of snow, and it's been cold ever since. Yesterday, however was only a few degrees below freezing; it's supposed to warm up for the rest of the week and only be 0° for Grey Cup.But it's a dry cold.

This is the first car I've had that used a cabin air filter. Did anyone with the fogging/icing problems ever try running with the filter removed to see if that made any difference?

Too bad there was no follow up from nkaltso, who hasn't posted here since 2/19/03.Although the cabin air filter wasn't mentioned in any of those threads, I was wondering if it could contribute to the problem by either restricting air flow or retaining moisture. Maybe someone with the recurring fog/ice problem can try pulling the filter for a couple of days to see if it makes a difference.

I figured out a way to solve the fogging icing problems with a very minor heating mod, as shown in the picture below.

our company ford taurus started to ice up inside, even on the windshield w/the heaters/defrosters on full...it was recommended by ford service that we pull out our in-cabin filters and replace them since if they are clogged will really restrict the flow of air into the cabin and give no circulation.....my vib started to ice up on the side windows today...the vib was warm but still the back/side windows were icing...may just pull out that filter to see what if any effects it has...wasnt that cold only -4* below this am.

My Vibe is getting worst with the ice in hte windshield.Last saturday, had to wait 10 mins running the defrost at high before being able to see through the window... And after few other minutes, I had to wipe up the winshield, it had lots of water drop all over the window.The strange thing is my gf Escort 95, parked right beside my Vibe does not freeze at all.I'll have it checked tuesday by my dealer, at the same time my battery will be changed

not me, i believe that there is a problem, even though i haven't had that one. I sure hope they can find a definite cause, something that can be fixed,instead of blaming it on not knowing the proper way to operate the controls.

My dealer checker my car, and all is ok with the heating system.They told me this frost is caused by the water/snow/ice in my floor mat. To clen they up and it will resolve the trouble....I doubt it will rectify this, cause I saw my gf car and she has tons of snow in her floor mats, and no frost in the windows at all.At least, they changed my battery and lub my clutch.

i don't know if this is the cure for you or not, but my gf's car had this problem and she was always complaining about it, so i finally got around to driving it and noticed she had the cabin air re-circulation turned on. i turned this off and within a matter of minutes the windows cleared up. all the moisture was staying trapped in the cabin.

My windows ice up on the inside too. Doesn't matter what the climate controls are set to, or even if the car was used at all that day. Would be nice to find a solution to this! At least for me, it doesn't happen TOO often (dry air here is good for something), but it is still annoying when it does!

Usually when I drive my vibe, it is for a while, my commute is about 60 miles one way, so I run the heater a lot, the car has plenty of time to dry out whatever moisture I track in. do people with the fogging/icing problems take short trips, or does this not matter?

I'm doing both, long and short trip and I ca tell it is worst when I'm doing long trip.Snow and Ice in the mat melt and when I take the car the day after, the windshield is full of ice... and take 5-10 mins to be able to drive and see properly through the windshield.

I haven't seen this with my Vibe and just took a 1400km trip to Mont Tremblant (wicked skiing btw!). But on my Focus, this happens every time that I have the heat directed to anywhere else BUT the windshield (or windshield and feet). The reason according to Ford is that any of the windshield settings actually use the A/C to draw moisture from the air even when set to the heating (can't actually recirculate the air on these settings). Now I assume that the Vibe does something similar?
