Re: Door lock key problems

Necro but... Just had a locksmith fix this issue (can't lock door w/ key) in my driver's door lock on my 2004 Vibe. Issue was a worn key along with grime in the cylinder. Removing the cylinder from the door was dead simple; the locksmith just popped the rubber cap from the side of the door nearest t...

Re: Rear Door Check Replacement How-To

Excellent work on the how-to! 8-) I did this a couple years ago using four new TRQ's. I like that they had the different ones for left vs right for the front so there was no need to modify. Some of them squeak, some pop right before the door is fully open. But they stop the doors unlike the worn ou...

Re: Rear Door Check Replacement How-To

Nice write up! ;) I just realized how bad, or totally gone, my drivers door is! :o May have to undertake this task real soon too! This was not a tough job :) I should have redone all the butyl while I was in there... I redid the butyl when I did the driver's door check a few years ago. Be careful w...

Re: 03 vibe diagnosing and replacing motor mounts?

Ok! Got the job done yesterday. Getting the rear back in took me about another hour. You have to work it through the inflexible spider web of cables and hoses where the air box and cruise control unit were, then pass it back through the mounting bracket. I had to get the top of it under the throttle...

Re: 03 vibe diagnosing and replacing motor mounts?

Necro but I just pulled the rear motor mount out on my '04. That was a bear. Tried for about 2 hours last night and decided to give it one more go this morning... You *must* remove the air intake and battery and relocate the cruise control module up and to the left. I also unbolted the cruise contro...

Re: Rear Door Check Replacement How-To

Now you just have to lift back the sheathing, grab the inside of the door check (reach through the hole in the door frame) and loosen the top door bolt the rest of the way. 16_Pull_back_sheathing_small.jpg There's the old check, removed!: 17_Remove_old_check.jpg Slide the new check back into the sam...

Re: Rear Door Check Replacement How-To

I then disconnected my speaker plug so that it wouldn't be in the way of the plastic sheathing when lifted: 11_Disconnect_Speaker.jpg I ended up using a breaker bar and deep socket 10mm on the doorwell bolt to break it free. 12_10MM_Breaker_on_doorwell.jpg Once free you'll see that the original bolt...

You can see the body clip in the panel here near the latch. I placed my pry tool right next to it and applied a fair amount of force. You'll have to repeat this all along the edge of the panel until all the clips are free: 6_Door_Panel_Clip_Side_View.jpg Once all the body panel clips have been poppe...

Rear Door Check Replacement How-To

I couldn't find any instructions on how to replace the driver's side rear door check on my 2004 Vibe, so I took some pictures and I'll post them here to help others. For removing the rear door panel this video on replacing a rear door handle is very useful. This is *extremely* similar to the front d...

Re: Gear shift bulb

Necro but this thread came up when I researched replacement. I have a 2004 Vibe and I used a Toyota bulb with the part number 90981-11018. Bulb was $3 ordered from my local dealership. I tried a Sylvania 2723 first and it dislodged within about 10 minutes of installation :P. Another user suggested t...

Necroing this thread because I have some more helpful info. Just swapped these bulbs in my 2004 vibe over the weekend and it was a pain. I am upgrading the stereo in the car so I figured this was the right time to do it. Can confirm that the 90072-02005 part number works in my '04; I ordered OEM bul...

Re: New battery terminal clamps

I found these OEM terminals on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Genuine-Toyota-90982-06022-Terminal-Assembly/dp/B00P2RZ8TE/ The fitment info indicates that they won't work on my vibe, but they look almost identical to what's on there right now. Does anyone have a Toyota or Pontiac part number for this...

New battery terminal clamps

My current terminal clamps are so corroded that trying to loosen the bolt is like peeling a can of sardines - the metal is bending when I apply torque. Re: aux button (vibiac)

This is a wild guess, but I don't think you would be able to directly connect a flash drive into the aux connector. The aux connector is most likely an analog-only signal input, and would not have the necessary hardware or software to communicate with a flash drive or decode the files you have store...

Ok - my install is done now I wanted to put some super, super noob tips up - this was the first time I'd ever installed, so I figure it might be handy to someone in my position next time.1. The factory brackets on the factory unit stay on the unit; don't try to adapt them to the new head unit. 2. Ge...
