I recommend start by building a whole new engine up in your garage for your car. I am decking the attic over my Christmas break so I can move the garage junk up there and have room to build an engine. After racking my brains for a while I figured this is the best way to 'fully' modify my engine at l...

Re: IWhat the @#$$#@! (vibe Freak)

My guess is there was a drop in back pressure and a loss of torque kinda like when a header is installed for a lot of cars. I know I am agreeing with someone here on this on this thread so far...just cant remember who.

Try cleaning the mass air flow sensor, that can really mess things up if it go dirty.

Re: Indexing Spark Plugs (djb383)

Yeah, it would be a strange head/engine if it was wedge. It seems as if head design is a Texas specialty judging by the posters.

Re: Good stereo systems (~MRVIBE2006~)

I can say my Alpine head unit has lasted a very busy three and a half years. I have seen older ones in cars working well too. Try to find a local stereo shop that you can trust to do good work. I have done a good deal of electrical work - including installing a full stereo in my car and soon a car p...

Re: Indexing Spark Plugs (djb383)

I would almost certainly agree with djb, the only thing I would want to see before making a decision for sure is the design of the top of the piston - since it may bias things slightly. However, since the difference can't be that drastic I would think a power increase would not be that great. Indexi...

Re: Indexing Spark Plugs (bk2001)

Well, it depends on the shape of the combustion chamber. So, a cross section of the head would be a good place to start. I would think where ever the most 'mixture' would be would be the best place. Edit: I found the SAE development papers for the 1ZZ-FE, which is just interesting to read anyways, i...

Re: Manual Transmission Oil Change (vibe-04)

I recommend Amsoil Manual Transaxle Fluid. https://www.amsoil.com/storefront/mtg.aspxI have had it in my pebble crusher for nearly 50,000 miles, and have no complaints. The shifts are smooth, and the synchro's still feel great.

Thats a good question, because they switched engine configuration or something. Real hazy as to what happened in 05'. Do not ask why..

Re: (northvibe)

Northvibe is quite correct. I would go ahead and just remove the TB assembly, pull the cable, if it sticks, its the cable, if not give the throttle body a real nice cleaning. Do you use an oiled air filter maybe? Maybe, not most likely, the oil could come off of that and get in the throttle body.

Re: ever find a rogue tool inside your car? (Puckman27)

HaHaHa.... I remember once forgetting to grab a pair of scissors/snips from my engine bay (did not remember at the time of course). For the next while I looked around frantically for them because they were nice and strong...and all black. They reappeared on the garage floor about two months after th...

Well, I have posted here before under another alias, but I got tired of that one, so I have this one. The previous one was rsg(something). Anywho, glad to be back.

Re: Sticky Throttle (antoniazzi)

The fact that the speed at which you release it makes me think (not know) that the cable may be getting caught up somewhere - like northvibe said. I would clean the throttle body first anyway since its easy, somewhat quick and would eliminate the possibility of a sticky gummy throttle.

Re: does tensioner quality matter ?? (jamesmetairie)

I have made it thus far on the stock tensioner with no sound. I know some say you should change it with the belt as a service item, but I did not. Just installed the Goodyear Gatorback (so it would be more like a NASCAR, hahaha), and it has been deathly quiet since I dumped the OEM belt. So far the ...

Re: Advice Needed: AC Drain Line Location (VIBE CAM)

The only drain line I know of for the A/C in the car is located right next to the center of the dash and the firewall in the passengers footwell. So, if you were looking down at it it would be the top left corner in the passenger fot well. You really have to look for it, it will be under some carpet...
