ever find a rogue tool inside your car?

Post by Puckman27 »

so i decided to check on my radiator fan today cuz its never seemed to have been working properly as long as i can remember. well, turns out it was on crooked and partially detached from the fan motor. i took it off and found that the teeth on the 'quality' plastic fan blade were torn to shreds. even better and more disturbing was the 8"-long, forged steel 5/8" wrench i found at the bottom of the fan housing... just sitting there, all banged up and rusted. (removed)?! (removed) mechanics! i have no idea how long thats been in there, but thanks to it i need to go to the dealer and get a new fan blade. not cool.

I found a nice Snap-On screwdriver under the hood of my truck once. Only Snap-On tool I own, way too pricey for my budget.

I found a 12mm socket in a previous car, very much appreciated since my own metric socket set did not have a 12mm.

I found a pair of vise grips clamped to the frame of my old blazer.

Bought a used Buick LeSabre for a short stint. Cleaned it out when I sold it a year later and found a 10 pc metric wrench set under the seat. One was missing, but a good find none the less.

HaHaHa.... I remember once forgetting to grab a pair of scissors/snips from my engine bay (did not remember at the time of course). For the next while I looked around frantically for them because they were nice and strong...and all black. They reappeared on the garage floor about two months after they went missing. At that point I installed another light in the garage to prevent forgetting a tool under the hood again.

I had body work don eon my last car. Then I kept hearing some "klunking" sound when starting from a stop. Well it was time to change the oil after a few weeks. Popped the hood to find a "body hammer" resting against the front header of my V6. The wood handle hand been roasted sitting on the header. Then to look further...found a nutdriver next to the hammer and a half eatin' bagel under the airbox. The hammer and nutdriver I have. I should have taken a pic of it all.

Do you not have the bagel because you ate it?

I do have a pic of the hammer...which I send to friends just before they go in for service at the shop. I title it "free tools" .
