Re: Progress on Stereo Upgrades

Another update now that it's burned in. I want to address the sub-control. The head unit actually has a very nice built-in crossover and bass control, but it's buried under Bass Boost. I was hearing some crackling from the sub-region and thought for sure it was a bracket; nope, it actually was the s...

Re: Progress on Stereo Upgrades

It doesn't work! Do'h!!! Cause I forgot to put the fuse back in the fuse holder under the hood!! Which, btw, you can't tell except for the holder mounted on the firewall. fuse.jpg Hindsight for me, but something to consider for others looking to upgrade or install one of these gems, I would mount th...

Re: Progress on Stereo Upgrades

Time to get everything back together. I had to make a trip back to the junkyard because the car doesn't have holes for the brackets, I don't believe it's an option for 2003 - don't quote me on that. A #2 pencil and paper for transfer then cut out and used a sharpie to mark the holes. Easy peasy mark...

Re: Progress on Stereo Upgrades

I should have taken a few more pics of the subbox, but this should be enough to get the point across. The box itself is held around the perimeter with many screws and one bolt through the back of the speaker. You definitely want to remove the bolt on the speaker before removing the screws around the...

Re: Progress on Stereo Upgrades

Went on a business trip today (9 hrs roundtrip) and drove the Vibe after finishing pretty much everything except the sub. Here are my findings: The speaker brackets are fine, with no rattle or distortion from excursion collision, so I'm leaving them as-is, but I will release the STLs with shorter op...

Re: Progress on Stereo Upgrades

More progress today. I have a road trip Wednesday and hope to get this done sans the subwoofer. Here are some more pictures of the tweeter bracket that came with the components I fitted behind the factory bracket. tweeter-bracket.jpg tweeter-mounted.jpg I designed some brackets for the rear door pan...

Progress on Stereo Upgrades

I'm starting a thread to journal my progress on my daughter's 2003 GT Base stereo upgrade. I'm keeping to a small budget and not going overboard (easy for me to do). So, let's begin. I removed the stock speakers and noticed they are the cheap bracket/speaker combo; those gots to go! I designed and 3...

Re: ELECTRICAL 100A fuse box problem

Mine does not. I don't have power locks, windows, etc... I was shocked when I was looking for it and noticed a place for it, but no minty green box freshness for me. Annnd, I'm glad, it's one less thing I have to worry about. 😎

Re: ELECTRICAL 100A fuse box problem

My Vibe is a base model GT without all the powered options. I'm actually glad, less things to worry about when my daughter gets the car. I was scratching my head when I looked for the Integration Relay only to find out mine doesn't have one. Maybe it's an issue for you? 🤷‍♂️

Re: ELECTRICAL 100A fuse box problem

I literally just traveled this path ( https://forums.genvibe.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=48532 ). I didn't realize the bolts either, and apparently the person before me didn't either and left one out which bit me in the glute. The harder side is an M6; you want to make sure the ring terminal is conne...

Re: 2003 GT Cabin Power Loss

Today is a good day. I let the battery charge overnight. Before removing the charger, I checked the fuses, reseated several plugs I had touched through this exercise, and said a prayer in Jesus’ name before cranking it over. The car fired right up!! Thanks to all for replying and offering some thing...

Re: 2003 GT Cabin Power Loss

Ok, I figured out the cabin power!! One of the bolts on the 100A link was missing, so the wire wasn't making good contact with the leg of the link. I'm curious what was really done to this car before I got it. The flipper replaced the alternator and battery, so perhaps they popped the link and forgo...

Re: 2003 GT Cabin Power Loss

I'm about to give up. I can't get it to start today. Starter runs, but not even an attempt to fire. I've not had an issue getting it started, and had it running last night while doing a diagnostic's check with Blue Driver for clues. I did determine today while the key is on, the gauge fuse doesn't r...

Re: 2003 GT Cabin Power Loss

Now, I'm stumped. The car doesn't have an Integration Relay; at least, it's not located in the fuse holder like I'm seeing. Now I have to do some serious metering.

Re: 2003 GT Cabin Power Loss

Update. I replaced the ignition switch and the gauge cluster, still no power. Looking at the schematics, the only item left is the Integration Relay. I guess it can't hurt to replace that since I've replaced everything else. 😂

Re: 2003 GT Cabin Power Loss

Oh, for sure, you can see others in my hand. I purchased a kit and am pulling all the mini fuses out and replacing them according to the manual with no regard for what is in there for both under the hood and dash. My replacement gauge cluster arrived, so I will likely tear into that as well, startin...

Re: 2003 GT Cabin Power Loss

I found out the hard way the 100A was bolted in. It was fine until I tried to take it out. Do'h! 🤦‍♂️ I ordered all new mini fuses off Amazon and will replace the big boy from the local auto parts store when they come in.

2003 GT Cabin Power Loss

I picked up (daughter says, rescued) an '03 GT Manual for my daughter's first car for a fair price. But as issues keep cropping up, it's turning out to not be a good deal. As I was driving it to the BMV for plates, I lost all power to the cluster, no turn signals (only hazards and lights work), no c...
