I'm all hooked up and the new JVC HU sounds awesome! I didn't use any of those wires in the extra 12 pin back connector. Not needed.

I just replaced my 2005 M&T factory radio. Everything works fine, except the discs sometimes only eject part way out. Interested? Might be a direct replacement.

Re: (nittanydoug)

Glad you're all done. I used the straight orange wire and it works fine too for auto dimming at night. It would be nice to have dimming control, but I'll take it as it is. The sound is amazing! I already had Sony speakers so they have finally come alive! Easy install, just a lot of soldering.

Re: What's the other stock radio harness for? (scherry2)

Well yeah, I figured as much, but it looks like 4 of the five wires are for the XM satellite option for digital radio, so I don't need it. There is one wire for "Mute control" in that connector to the amp, but I'm not sure if I need that for basic radio operation (I don't have XM or Onstar.)

What's the other stock radio harness for?

At the back of the stock radio, there is the big 24 pin grey connector, and also a smaller 12 pin black one. What is the black one for? CD changer option? I couldn't find it in the service manual. Thanks!

Re: Looking at a JVC KD-600 HU, do I need the PAC-OEM2 adapter? (nittanydoug)

I also have a 2005 M&T Vibe, and just bought a JVC HU. Everything I researched said I need the Pac OEM2 to reduce distortion and white noise. I just received everything in the mail and am working out the wiring. Seems like there are some minor discrepancies between the different instructions, so...

Re: CAI installed on 2005 base vibe (Thewhite)

I've tracked every tank of gas since I got my vibe. MPG usually hovers around 30 with city driving. I installed the CAI and magnaflow in early April. You can see a definite jump in MPG at that time. But it's not a lot. My best mpg is 33.8 all highway, but I drive agreessive for sure.Boy 1st gear on ...

The Magnaflow on my '05 is pretty quiet. Only under heavy throttle does it seem a little loud from inside the car. It's a lot tamer than I expected. I was kinda disappointed at first, but I like it now.Oh, I work for GM and I'm in Warren quite a bit if you wanted to see it.

Re: CAI installed on 2005 base vibe (wicked1981)

The filter is a tight fit to the radiator frame, but that is easily bendable by hand. With the Magnaflow and the CAI, the car is much more fun to drive. Definitley more responsive and zippy. Plus the engine bay looks better too. I'm really hoping for a little more MPG too, because I drive a lot of m...

Well, the pic is with the air dam piece out. That piece is solid, so I don't suspect much water to hit the filter. The 90 degree bend comes with the kit.

CAI installed on 2005 base vibe

For any '05'ers out there, I just installed the Cosmo AWD 2005 CAI onto my base vibe. It wasn't too tough. I decided to tap a hole and extend the smog vacuum line into the cai pipe. And I had to bend the vibra-nut attachment because it was off location.

Re: cai and exhaust... (Sunny)

You can custom fit an 05 Cosmo CAI to any base. I'm doing it now. I just need to route a different smog hose to the intake tube from the engine. No big deal really. And to make the cai fit, I just had to bend the one attachment tab on the intake tube. She fits nice, with the filter almost fully infr...

Pulled off roof rails.... Looks hot!

I started to pull off my roof rails to paint them black, and once I had them off, I thought the car really looked hot. So I am going to leave them off and get some caps. IMO it looks better w/o those rails. My question is... two of those plastic cheapo clips broke off and fell inside the body. Where...

Changing DRL to the parking lamps not headlamps??

I like my Trans Am where the DRL are actually the orange turn signal lamps, versus the VIBE where the headlights are on all the time.Anyone aware of a way to rewire to have the DRL's run the turn signal lamps and not the headlamps?

Stubby antenna sucks... poor reception.

Just thought I'd let everyone know. I bought a 3.55" stubby antenna, because the stock one is insanely ugly, but the stubby really gets poor reception. I'm ok right in town, but the range on this new antenna is NOT good.I got this one from Jhongs on e-bay.

I just rec'd mine from Cosmo for my 05. It looks great, nice quality, and nice color to it. Love the price! I got the red and it might be a bit showy (I'm used to raw muscle power - 400+rwhp in my Trans Am), but I guess that's the flavor. I got red to match the strut tower brace I also rec'd.I also ...

Autobarn shows they have a K&N short ram (polished only) for the '05 base vibes. I wanted red, but will wait for the Injen.Anyone know why the '04 Injen CAI won't fit a 2005? It appears like it should fit. If it's only small modifications, it might be possible.

HP & MPG gains?

Just got my vibe yesterday, and wondering if others have experienced both HP and mpg improvements with a CAI and magnaflow. Typically, helping the engine better breathe in and out makes it more efficient and it doesn't have to work as hard.I'm a V8 guy, and on my Trans Am, I had the highway mpg up t...
