New headunit question.....'04 Vibe Moon & Tunes

Post by PWilli015 »

Hey folks, I have a quick question about my headunit that just died....A friend of mine donated an '04 Matrix headunit only to my surprise the harness was different. Are there anyways out there to make this work or am I gonna have to bite the bullet and just go buy a new headunit? Thanks bunches for your feedback in advance!

There is a way that it could work, but I myself do not feel comfortable disclosing it as some issues could arise such as fire as the radio itself is not fused. If you can confirm the the radio pin outs are the same then I would have no problem giving you an easy solution. If you have the funds for an aftermarket radio I would look into that route as aftermarket is always better. It is strange that the radio plugs are different; the 03-08 vibes use harness BHA2003, the 03-04 Matrix also uses the BHA2003, yet the Matrix uses BHA1761 from 05-08 according to bestkits.Aron

I just replaced my 2005 M&T factory radio. Everything works fine, except the discs sometimes only eject part way out. Interested? Might be a direct replacement.

i had best buy install mine, i needed a head unit quick and came with free install. i do know most people will want to leave the orange cable un hooked, can cause static. and with the moons and tunes package there's a issue with the rear speakers not working with an after market unit but the fix is on the forums. so search for that for sure your almost guaranteed to run into that.

Sounds like I need to go aftermarket......lol. That is why we have credit cards, right? I did see the post for the rear speakers not working sometimes with an aftermarket unit and will definently pay attention to that. Thanks guys for your help!
