I doubt this thing really works. Most (almost all) of light are running with programmable time and some with sensors (kind of magnet under the ground to detect metallic mass or simply movement sensors). I cannot see how this thing can tell a time to chage the light right away instead of at the end of his countdown. But, I know here, in Quebec city, the fire depatment implemented a new system to have the light turning green when the fire truck is coming. This system is very complex and worh with FM signaling and GPS. And all intersection have to be updated with the FM receptor to work properly.

apparently they do work, and that is why they either are pushing or just passed a law to make them illegal for non-emergency vehicles in Maryland. if a lo of people had them it would make regulated traffic flow degrade into total chaos, and it's bad enough already.

Although I don't know anything about it, the cops here have a device to change red lights to green as well.

The device is real but it is a felony for a private citizen to own one. Also, the device only works on signals designed to use them. It does not work on regular signals.More info: http://caranddriver.com/articl...ber=1

We have four intersections that are set up to react to this system. Get caught using these on a private vehicle and expect very heavy fines!

The radio signal is not used because of the effects of weather, proximity of other signals etc..

The one in Quebec city really work with FM signal. They choose this way over the infra-red signal. It can have many way to do this, infra-red, FM, strobe effect....
