Re: Need pics of bikes on factory roof rack (bax08)

So here's the skinny,The Vibe Factory bars (Thule) are designed to work with a fork-mount bike rack, mounted facing backwards. This allows you to open the trunk all the way. It doesn't allow you to carry more than two bikes, or orient your bikes facing forward. Here's a picture from Pontiac: The sol...

Your driving habits, engine maintenance, and tire pressure will all have more of an effect on MPG than the difference of body shape between the two cars.Apples vs. Apples. They're the same car.

Re: Roof Rack / Ski rack (kunkstyle)

Thule and Yakima are like the Acura and Lexus of roof racks. You're gonna get quality product either way. No real big difference. But once you buy into a system, you sorta have to stick with it...The factory bars with the the 03-06 Vibe will take a "universal mount" ski rack. Basically it ...

The 2007-2008 GM bars are indeed made by THULE. They're super sturdy, and accept any THULE rack part. This is especially handy for things like bike racks, which need a very secure base.I prefer the look of the old bars, but the utility and removability of the square bars makes them a winner too. If ...

I seriously considered buying a Prius. For me it came down to price. My 1.8L 2007 5spd vibe gets 30-36 MPG.My Mom's 2003 Prius gets 40-50 MPGFor me, it wasn't worth the price premium. I just don't drive that many miles. But when she bought the Prius, it definitely won over the Civic Hybrid. No Questi...

I wish I had cruise control. But by making that sacrifice, I got a hell of a deal. I suppose if I really wanted it, I could have it installed aftermarket with the money I saved.

I definitely prefer the look of the Matrix over the Vibe. That being said, I got the Vibe for about $3,000 less. So I was willing to make the aesthetic sacrifice to save the money.

Certainly very clever. A very different take on body style, materials, etc. From a practical perspective, I have to wonder what kind of material they are making the skin out of? Will it work in rain, snow, heat, etc? From a cynical perspective, I wonder about the name choice when that hood opens up .....

Thule Hullaport or Hullaport Pro should work just fine. You're looking at about $140 for the J-style carriers. Both of these are compatible with factory bars, right out-of-the-box.
