Re: Curt 12221 Hitch for 2009 GT (Whiteslice)

Whiteslice,I wanted to use the hitch for a bicycle carrier but first read in the printed instructions on-line that the fascia had to be cut. (I really did not want to do this.) A few months later the directions no longer mentioned that the fascia required cutting. I am very grateful to you for takin...

Has anyone installed the Curt 12221 Hitch on a 2009 GT. If so, did the rear fascia require cutting? How much of the hitch is exposed beyond the fascia? Many thanks!

We bought two 2009 GT's. The first one got the Husky mats. The second GT got GM mats. Personally, I like the GM mats better. The GM mats fit perfectly and looks sharper. They were also cheaper.

My son wanted his racks removed from his 04. Simply unscrew that screw and the cross bars slide right off. There is a kit on-line to replace the vertical portion of the racks, (what holds the cross bars). However, the caps are rather expensive and come unpainted.

Two Curt Hitches for 2009 Vibe GT?

Is anyone familiar with the two Curt Hitches for the 2009 GT? One model, product 12228, appears to require some cutting of the rear fascia. The description for the other hitch, product 12221, states that the main body is exposed. Does anyone know how much fascia is required to be cut for the first o...

Second 2009 and Third Vibe in Six Months

We bought a 2009 White GT Vibe in March. Needless to say, we love the car. Our teenage son needed a car, so of course we had to get him a Vibe. After weeks of searching for a used Vibe with ABS, we found one at a dealer about 100 miles away. Although our son abused his first car, he pampers the Vibe...

2009 Incentives?

We am looking to buy a second 2009. We bought a GT in March and love it so much so that we bought my teenage son a used 2004 AWD Vibe in May. I would now like to replace my wife's 2000 Buick Century. We got absolutely NO DEAL on the GT in March. Is anyone aware of any current or upcoming incentives ...

Although I would not be happy with damage to either my bike or the Vibe, at least if someone rear ends you it would be, (I hope,) THEIR fault. With the roof rack, it would be mine. I think the first situation might be a bit easier to live with.

I think I may have answered my own question. I called Toyota this morning and spoke with a product specialist. The Toyota product specialist stated that the engine and transmission in the Matrix are both Camry based. I guess it would be very safe to assume that this would be true for the Vibe.

When To Use Synthetic Oil?

I have a new Vibe, (less than 600 miles,) and would like to use synthetic at the first oil change. I've been told that one should not use synthetic oil for at least 10,000 miles; that using synthetic too early will actually contribute to poor engine wear. Anyone know the real story? Thanks!
