I installed mine on my 2008 vibe yesterday. Easy to do and I really like the higher arm rest. The extra storage is just a bonus. I got mine for something like $73 plus $9 shipping from a Toyota dealer in MoTown over the internet.
The reasons you outlined (especially lower gas mileage, no tracks, hatchback lip) are exactly why I hurried back to buy a 2008. I wanted to order a new one but couldn't because they were only taking orders on the 2009 so I had to do some big time searching to find one that was close to what I wanted.
I was thinking about this on Friday. I put the Scangauge into my Amazon wish list. Saturday morning I went back to Amazon to buy it and the price had jumped $20.
Giving my best guess, some wire some place after the fuse has a bare spot that touched a ground (almost any other metal part) when you hit the bump. It could be a connector or a wire that has insulation worn off.
Good work. I just ordered my dual armrest cover today. I can't believe the prices the GM places are asking - over $200. I ordered mine from a toyota site.
YUP - the same way on my 2008. I just posted the fix on another thread I started. My problem was that the fuse on was bad - a bunch of work for such a simple fix.
I got the center console 12V plug working today. First I double checked the wires - no power. Then I checked for resistance to ground and found that the white wire with the brown stripe was the ground and well connected.Next I found the fuse box and checked for the fuses they were all there. Then I ...

I attempted my first two modifications tonight, one for two.The first one was to put in the garage door opener switch. It was very simple and took less than 30 minutes. First I soldered two wires to my current garage door opener http://www.arlynsphotos.com/vibe1.JPGMaking a small notch for the wires...
I've been trying to find a repair manuel for my new Vibe. I didn't get to the Vibe manuel but I did find an electronic manuel for the Matrix at http://matrixowners.com/index....anuel
This is a great idea. While checking on all the great things about the Vibe/Matrix on the web I also came across this switchhttp://www.oznium.com/gsw-45If it fits the Matrix I think it should also fit the Vibe. I ordered two today (one on/off and one momentary). I'll let you know how they work when ...
The basic question for me is "what works"? I've done quite a bit of searching and have not been able to find an adapter that is listed to work with the 2008. Most of the sites give the fm transmitter option but not a hardwire connection. I don't mind the cost of ipod2car adapter but I'd ra...
