Need switched power source for auto-on funcion of amp

Post by Renthorin »

Does anyone know a good place to get a power source that is active when the car is in ACC or ON but not when the car is off?I read the thread about the wire under the center console but that is from 2004. Without pulling my console to verify....does anyone know if that wire is still there on the 08 model? Also, if it is there...how do I know which lead is positive and which is ground? Thanks. Will

I just want a powered (ACC on) lead to tell the amp when to turn on. Not looking for power to run the amp, just to turn it on.If both wires are there....which one is hot?

Are you using an aftermarket HU? On any wiring harness there will be a acc wire for that very purpose. It should be blue/white or blue/yellow.

Just connect to any existing screw/bolt in the car for the ground connection if needed.

Not changing the radio at all. Just adding a sub and amp to the back.

Ah. I was wondering if there might only be one wire. I couldn't tell from the pictures I found. That makes things simple :-)Tap into that lead....run it under the carpet to the back....hook to wire on amp that tells it when the car is on (ACC/ON)Thanks :-)

Amp is in and working spiffy. There were two wires in the connector for the 12volt socket so I had to go get a voltage tester thingy and find out which was hot.On the 08 Vibe....the wire you want is the blue one :-)

YUP - the same way on my 2008. I just posted the fix on another thread I started. My problem was that the fuse on was bad - a bunch of work for such a simple fix.

FWIW: The accesory wire would be the gray wire at the radio harness, the blue and white is a constant 12v source.Aron
Vibe is gone and will be missed as I've gone country style
