Automatic Transmission Linkage

Is there a trick to hooking up the shift linkage on an automatic transmission? I can't seem to get it aligned correctly. It seems like I need to keep playing with it in order for it to go into drive correctly. When everything looks and feels correct, the car won't start because of the sensor. If I m...

Re: (DraziWDragon)

I was finally able to remove the transmission pan. There was a delay, because my wife delivered our daughter 3 weeks early Anyways, here are the pics. The filter itself has a lot of fine particles in it as well.

Re: (djkeev)

Right now if I put it in any drive and try to accelerate, the car only moves about 10 feet and then nothing. It acts as if it is in neutral. Could that possibly mean that there is still hope?I can't drop the pan until Saturday but I will do that to see how much was collected on the magnet.

Re: Transmission Help (caliguy78)

I called a few places and I found a transmission for $850 that has 45,000 miles. I found cheaper ones but they had really high mileage. One shop quoted me $450 labor. How difficult is it to pull the transmission myself? I have worked on cars before but never worked on a FWD.

Re: Transmission Help (star_deceiver)

Fluid levels are good, and there is no leaking. I checked the fluid levels several times since I changed the fluid.

Re: (skimask)

Unfortunately, I am at work so I don't have the exact bottles in front of me. It was a green bottle from Autozone for imports. It said it was for use with transmissions requiring T-IV fluid. I did not drop the pan to change the filter. I just did a drain and fill because I had the plug.

Transmission Help

Hi. I have not been on here in quite a while. I own a 2005 Vibe with an Automatic Transmission with 75,000 miles. For the last several months, I have noticed what seems to be a slight slippage during acceleration. Withing the last couple of weeks, there has been a whining sound that appeared to be c...

Re: Exterior molding paint (Whelan)

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by cladding. I have plastic moldings that flare out along the edge of the entire vehicle. It is black plastic that is clipped in place.

Exterior molding paint

I need to paint the exterior molding on my 2005 Vibe. It was involved in a side impact. Some of the replacement moldings I have are a different tone that the rest of the car. Any tips? Brush or spray? I went to the Pontiac dealership here and they said they don't sell paint for the trim pieces. I ha...

Seat Bracket

I am having one heck of a time finding the part I need. I went to the Pontiac dealer as well as a Toyota dealer. Both of their seat diagrams are hard to read.I am missing a L shaped bracket on my rear passenger side seat. This is where the rear of the seat attaches to the side of the car. I have the...

Thanks! I just wanted to make sure before I dropped a bunch of coin on them. My rocker panel actually takes at least 2 different kinds of clips. The ones across the bottom are about the size of a nickel and are pricey.

Lower Door Molding

On my 05 VIbe, the lower molding on the passenger door is coming off. One clip is missing and another is broken. What is the GM part number for these clips? I tried to find them on gmpartsdirect.com but I could not find them.

ABS

This is somewhat of a dumb question, but how can I tell if I have ABS or not? I purchased a used VIBE and was told it had ABS. When I start the car, the ABS light does not come on.

molding clips

I need to install a rocker molding and quarter panel molding on my 2005 Vibe. Does anyone know the part numbers for the clips and accessories needed to mount these? It looks like the rocker molding takes more than one type. My dealer was not much help.

Keyless entry

I purchased a used 2005 Pontiac Vibe. It has power windows and power door locks. How can I tell if it has factory keyless entry? I called the dealership and gave them the VIN but they were unable to figure it out. It would be a nice little upgrade if I can get it to work.
