Growling & vibration - Puzzling (Edit: FIxed)

04 Vibe with 51000kms, auto. Runs very well with no codes, except that a bad growling/vibration has appeared only at idle when almost or completely stopped, in drive. Doesn't do it in neutral or reverse, or when at speed. I think it's a heat shield because of the intermittent clanging and squeaking ...

Re: (Sublimewind)

I went to the dealer to get things checked out... The "drivetrain specialist" wasn't there, but they determined that everything was normal. It's more play than I've seen on other FWDs, but then again, all FWDs are not made the same...To engineer: The play I'm refering to is if you take hol...

Re: (engineertwin2)

It's actually up/down play between the shaft and the transmission, where the shaft goes in. The joints themselves are tight and there's no excessive play in the axial direction. Thanks,

Loose CV Shaft?

Anyone ever notice any looseness of the CV shafts where they go in the transmission (particularly the passenger-side longer one)? I was at the garage for an oil change, and they got me to witness this looseness, saying it wasn't normal... All I can think of is that this is a 2004 with only 46000kms,...

Re: (zionzr2)

To get wax off of plastics, the best way I found is a simple, moderately pliable white eraser (pencil eraser). That's it, real simple. I can't believe this post is 6 pages long!!

Trunk mat/carpet

Did any Vibes come with trunk mats/carpets from the factory, or is one available from GM Accessories? I'm trying to find out where to buy one and how much it would go for if such a thing exists...Thanks

New Wheels, 5 spoke or six spoke?

Looking to get summer wheels for my wife's 04 Vibe. I was looking for 5 spokes, but then saw a few Vibes here with 6 spokes. I've seen American Eagle 193 series six spokes that should do nicely... Any thoughts?
