I had previously tried to have service done by Toyota and they refused. However, the car was still under warranty at the time, which I seem to remember was the sticking point. I too have a 2003 AWD and just found out that both of my rear axle seals need to be replaced. Discovered it due to a small puddle under the car one day. I just passed 80,000km and the dealer said it was warranty work. I hope this isn't doesn't turn into a continual problem either!

Well the weather hit -25C over the holidays and wouldn't you know it, my new starter also sticks. Sounds exactly the same as the old one. Not sure what to do now. Anyone heard anything else on this issue or had any success fixing the problem?

Well I'm not convinced you can really have both. If you want cheap then get a rope, practice your knots and go for it. Oh yeah, forgot to mention in my last post that the most I've gotten on a single tank is 607km but I was pretty much on fumes at that point. My gas warning light usually comes on around 500km and I usually fillup around 550km (I reset the trip odometer at each fill).
