Re: Kind of Ticked off!!! (silverawd26)

Some (somewhat hardcore) suggestions:Get a Dead Kennedys sticker and put it smack dab in the middle of your rear window. If the local music store's out of DKs logos (since they disbanded in '85), a Misfits or Bad Brains logo will suffice.Carelessly recreate your favorite heavy metal band logo with W...

Re: Most miles on a tank of gas (Sub-Vibe-R)

I got 389 miles out of one tank in one day during a Christmastime interstate trip, going between 70-80 mph with no A/C and traversing only moderate rolling hills. The temperature was in the 60s.

Re: Any one packing drumsets/musical equipment in the Vibe? (eddiec)

First of all, EddieC, welcome to GenVibe.com.I haven't had to pack my drumset in the Vibe yet, but when I bought the Vibe I definitely was thinking of it from a musical cargo point of view. On weekends I play bass, and only have to carry the hardshell bass case and assorted baggage. I fold down the ...

GUILTY of buying a cheesy steering wheel cover

OK, you can laugh. My girlfriend has a red Mustang with a steering wheel cover that I always liked. I was surprised to find out that it's a Wal-Mart special for $6.99!!!! (I had assumed it would cost $20 - but, I know nothing about car parts). It's black with three sections of lusciously thick, soft,...

Thank you! I had no idea my presence was missed. I moved, and now get to drive 12-20 miles to work (depending on route) instead of the mere 2.1 miles I drove last year. In a good little car like the Vibe, I consider that a blessing. (Gives me some alone time with the CDs too).I might start posting a...

The same thing goes with the enhanced FM feature (participating stations send out song title and call letter info which will display on your Vibe's LED readout): there are no stations in Tampa which participate.

Even with the standard 5-speed, it's a tossup whether to use 4th or 5th in most situations. Sometimes I downshift to 4th during a long straightaway just to confirm that the engine is actually running Hey, it's hard to hear over that radio.

I live right across the bay, in Tampa. Not only is it well-nigh flat, it's also got the highest density of ugly strip malls, chain restaurants, car dealerships and traffic lights I've recently encountered.BUT I-275 gets a little bit twisty down toward the Coliseum and the Tierr...

local move, interstate trip: My Vibe was busy in December.

Well, as if I wasn't already convinced that the Vibe is practical, I am really singing its praises now. I just moved across town, took an interstate trip with my mom and my girlfriend for the holidays, and came back to finish the move. I am exhausted, but the Vibe showed no sign of slackin'.I packed...

Moon & Tunes system: a bit of hisssssssssssss

Last night in a quiet parking garage, I was idling and putting in a CD before driving away. For the first time, I noticed a very audible hisssssss as soon as I put the CD in and before the music started. When the music came on, the quiet bits between drum hits were NOT filled with the hiss.I can onl...

While the Moon & Tunes system is louder, loud is very different from good, and I feel that they were trying to put one over on us. I'm hoping that a speaker replacement will help what is essentially an adequately powered, but non-artistically voiced, system. If you have time, could you attempt to...

I can confirm that, as opposed to Maxell (who has a bad reputation for CD-R and CD-RW quality), TDK CD-Rs have notably fewer disc errors when recording from live sources. By disc errors I mean the audible dropouts that appear randomly throughout the music. I recorded a live practice last night onto ...

In that case, be sure to include "Do It 'Til You're Satisfied" (by the B.T. Express), which I consider a must in any funk collection. Can't go wrong with "Fantastic Voyage" or James Brown's "(removed) Machine" either!

I actually did read the manual (with usual lightning speed, molasses comprehension) and missed this item. I thought my hatch button didn't work, either. It's probably for the best that you have to hold it down really deliberately.

Sub-Vibe-R, I also found that my Vibe held nowhere near the amount of gas as my GMC Jimmy, but made it 20 miles farther on its first tank. The second tank did the same. The third tank took 299.9 miles to burn off, and the fourth did better! After driving that sluggish, gas-guzzling Jimmy for three y...

Yoda,I happened to pay attention to this, so I can actually answer: at 70mph on more or less flat Florida highways - and considering the 80-90 degree temperatures we've had up until today's 60-something - I am at about 2700-2800 RPM. When I go to 80mph, it's at about 3100-3200. It seems to me that f...

My first trip in the Vibe (and great gas mileage)

I took my Vibe to Marathon Key, FL, for a three-night gig at the Hurricane, and it did great loaded with music gear and luggage. The best part was the gas mileage. My first tank of gas in the Vibe (a few weeks ago) yielded about 196 miles - much better than about 180 in my 2002 GMC Jimmy, which had ...

I had just gotten my 5-speed after driving an automatic for 3 years, and I must admit my stick shift driving skill needed some rust removal. So I took delivery on my Lava Vibe last night, and as I drove it down the interstate to my parents' house for a congratulatory dinner, I was digging the cool red display very much.
