Re: SUVs on the way out... (Ryan)

It really has to do with safety. Did you ever see a Dodge ram 2500 4X4 quad cab behind you? Sorry... but if a 5000-7000 pound SUV/truck runs into the average vehicle with a bumper that high off the ground your done for. Whoever is in the truck wouldnt even spill their coffee while they ran you over....

Re: Do you leave your foglamps ON? (Sub-Vibe-R)

i USED to leave my fogs on... until i realized my headlights were going and staying on (and therefore the fogs too) at 2 pm on sunny and totally cloud-free afternoons. driving around on a sunny day with my fogs turned on just isnt right. so, if the headlights went on only when they should... i would...

Has anyone tried Rinke (Van (removed) & 696)? I'm thinking they may be a good choice since they also sell / maintain Toyotas.

Re: Would you change your vibe to resemble VIBE GT-R (Fritzburg)

IMO the GXP looks better too. The new optional sport package (on the SPO) looks more subtle than the whole GT-R package though. I'd like to see one on the street. 8th planet take some pics if you decide to get them put on your new GT! Also, I did read an update on the main page here that said the ap...

im out near 26 mile road in Macomb Twp., MI... and its nothing but 7000lb Yukons, Expeditions, and Dodge RAM 3500 quad cabs racing around these two way streets at ~60-70 mph. not a pretty sight. my next car might have to be a hummer h2 the way things are going.

Re: Nissan Murano (ShaneV)

IMO its is a very nice looking SUV. Being a Michigander... I'll always be partial to the big three... particularly GM. But I have to say there are some sharp Nissan/Infiniti vehicles out there... like the 350Z and G35 coupe.

Re: Bad Drivers (old man winter)

well, i live on a dirt road (about 1/2 mile off a paved street). my definition of a bad driver is any oncoming traffic going over 20 mph! gravel roads and flying rocks suck. ive even backed into driveways when i've seen cars coming.

higher performance Vibe GT fall 2003?

has anyone heard anything about this? I read it in Forbes.com review of the Vibe. I'm thinking its just rumor or speculation. The article/review is fairly old (Jan 21, 2002).http://www.forbes.com/2002/01/21/0121feat.html"In corners the Vibe GT is almost identical to the base car and, although t...

Re: Beeping reverse and performance - Vibe GT owners (Jerico)

I test drove the 5-speed and GT again back to back (yes im obsessed when im ready to spend 20K). I felt the lift this time... and really noticed more of a difference at higher RPMs. The 5-speed is easier to drive (more forgiving clutch)... but the GT is more fun. As far as the low-end... I didnt not...

Re: Beeping reverse and performance - Vibe GT owners (Jerico)

good observations... they do reinforce that the 5 speed is a bit more practical... and I agree. The $2-3K price difference does seem a little steep considering the engines arent THAT different... but I guess the rear discs/abs/suspension is worth something too.I test drove a GT today and had a lot o...

Re: Just got my GT, hard to make myself rev high enough (rsperko)

Its probably a good idea to drive like your grandma for the first 1000 miles! I heard that you should try to keep the RPM below 4K and try to vary your speed (or RPM) as much as possible during the break-in period. The manual (PDF version thats posted here) doesnt mention it though... unless I just ...

Re: Monotone or two-tone? (vibesalsa)

At first I preferred the monotone. I still like it... but I saw a two tone Lava GT today in the lot and it looked good. Like everyone else said... more sport-ute. I think the 17" wheels actually look better with the two tone... the grey cladding offsets those huge grey/aluminum wheels better. I...

Re: Beeping reverse and performance - Vibe GT owners (d_m_kolb)

Thanks for your feedback. I dont plan on making any mods or doing any towing. I test drove the base and it seemed to have enough power (although I didnt beat on it). I'm going to test drive the GT this week. Its funny... before I really payed attention to these small high rev engines I would hear an...

Beeping reverse and performance - Vibe GT owners

Does the beeping tone when your engaged in reverse drive you crazy? Is there any way to disable it? Also, if you have test drove the 5-speed manual base... what is your general impression of the power differences between it and the GT? (I realize on the GT the valve lift kicks in at high RPM... but ...

Vibe - chick car?

I'm thinking about getting a new Vibe GT... they're cool little cars. but one thing concerns me a bit. Whenever I'm looking at one at the dealership all the women I see always say "oh, its so cute!". Also, the few Vibes I've seen have all had female drivers. Is it a chick car... like the ...
