Re: Putting a '05 subwoofer in a '03/'04

Hey all,I've been following this discussion with some interest, as like a lot of others I wanted a stealth install that didn't take a lot of cargo space. Putting one in the main cargo area is a non-starter for me, and I really didn't want one under the seat as I'm always storing crap under there. So...

I've got a 2003 base vibe, auto. I try to get the best mileage I can given that the car's pretty much just a daily commute machine. My driving is about 80% streets or stop-and-go freeway traffic and 20% highway. On the highway I keep it at around 60 (because the flow of traffic is really only 65 des...

I bought mine way back in late 2002 and I couldn't find a base with auto, ABS, and side airbags on the lot. I ended up ordering it, which at that time didn't really matter as I was getting GM pricing and I got the same price whether the car was on the lot or not.The salesguy tried to convince me tha...

Dimmer Lead for Head Unit?

I couldn't find this with a search, so apologies if it's already out there.I'm about to purchase and install a new head unit to replace the stock stereo. I've been looking at the Alpine CDA-9847, and it's got a dimmer lead that dims the HU display when the headlights are on.I realize with the screwy...

JL Stealthboxes

Hey, just as an FYI, I sent an email to JL Audio recently asking if they were considering making a "Stealthbox" for the Vibe/Matrix. For those who don't know what a Stealthbox is, it's a subwoofer in an enclosure that's designed to fit in your car and look like it's factory equipment. They...

Re: Pioneer DEH-P8400 (BlackGTNJ)

Not to start a flame war or anything, but it is generally accepted that Sony mobile audio sucks. (Don't flame, please...if it works for you, great.)I'd go with the Pioneer. I'd also consider Alpine, JVC, and Eclipse. The higher-end Alpines have selectable red/green displays.

Dumb question....

Hi,In my '96 Chevy Blazer I found the easiest way to disable the DRLs was by pulling the fuse. The fuse that controlled the DRLs did not control anything else. I picked up my Vibe on Saturday and according to the manual, the setup is the same in the Vibe/Matrix - the DRL fuse controls only the DRLs....

10 (or 15)

Mine had 10 miles on it when I went to the dealer to pick it up (ordered it). I took a short drive in it to make sure it was OK, and added 50% to the mileage. So it was 15 when I took delivery, although they put 10 on the paperwork.

Re: How long? (Celos)

Hi, me again.I just talked to my dealer, the Vibe is on the delivery truck and should arrive tonight. So that's 9/12 order, 10/18 delivery. Not too shabby with the port shutdown in the middle. I'm jazzed.

This has been covered in many threads. Try searching for "wiring harness". You'll come up with part numbers and discussions of various manufacturer's parts. There's some info in this thread: http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=324

Neptunious

I have chosen "Neptune" in "two-tone" for my upcoming car, which is currently stuck in the dang NUMMI plant due to the work stoppage at the ports. Hopefully they'll build it this week. I'll post a pic when it comes.

My $0.02

I'm surprised by how many folks have either GM supplier or employee pricing. That's a big reason that I'm buying the Vibe, too; GM employee pricing through the family. My wife and I each already drive GMs because of the discount ('91 Sunbird [Vibe will replace] and a '96 Blazer), but I hadn't really ...

Report from Fremont

Hi...I live in Fremont, CA, home of NUMMI (and therefore the birthplace of all your Vibes).Any event, the local papers are reporting that as of last Friday, NUMMI had approximately 9 days worth of parts on hand. After that, they'd be shut down. The threat of something at the ports has been there for...

DIN Definition

I think your question has already been answered, but for the truly (removed) retentive among us, DIN stands for Deutsche Industrie Normen, which is the German standards organization.Metra makes a very nice kit (part # in one of the threads referenced above) that puts a 1 DIN stereo and a little stas...

Re: How long?

I'm a bit premature as we don't actually have it yet, but I ordered my base Vibe on 9/12; the dealer said the order would go to Pontiac on 9/17, and they are quoting a build week of 9/30 and a delivery week of 10/14.Note that I live in Fremont where the Vibes are built, and the dealer is in Fremont,...
