Dealer said my gas was siphoned. Would there be evidence?

I was in a car accident. My fuel level sensor went out. I filled up with gas, approx 11.5 gal. About a day and a half and 40 miles later, I ran out of gas. The dealer said I must have made a mistake and It was actually $11.50. I told them even if I did put in 3 or 4 gallons, it would have lasted fur...

Re: Rear defroster pad lifted from glass (Steve)

I had a friend who had that come unwelded on his Matrix. My rear defroster stopped working after I had my Vibe for about 3 1/2 years. It turns out it came unsoldered or disconnected sometime last winter. They charged about $100 to diagnose the problem I told them was there and about $100 to resolder...

cleaning roof rack

How do I clean the two stock aluminum bars that some call the roof rack? When I got the car, the bars were shiny aluminum. Now they are dulled, and I don't know the best way to clean and maintain the clean look. I have only had the car for 6 months. Thanks

Re: Ahh crap! My car got hit again..... (ArcsVibe)

When my Vibe was repaired, (after an old lady backed into me), I asked the body shop to give me some touch up paint. They were happy to do so. It has turned out to be a blessing to have the matching paint, because I have Neptune (blue) and it has not been the easiest to match, and you will need it. ...

5 months and my neptune blue car, with 3800 mi got its first rock chip down to the metal. My Dodge Stratus with over 75k mi has none. It's tragic, really.

You probably won't get too many responses, b/c my dad is 6'5" and hates my car. I on the other hand am 5'2" (female) and fit perfectly. He was going to buy a vibe until he actually drove one. He's too big.

Re: Poll - How many use Synthetic Oil or Regular Oil in their Vibe? (Triton)

I plan on using synthetic when I hit about 10k miles. Some recommend that you wait this long for the break in period so the rings will seat properly. Synthetic oils don't cause as much friction which is what helps the engine break in. Don't know if this is right, but that is what I have heard. I als...

No, I didn't change the tires or wheels, but it came with the pontiac rims that are an upgrade. The tire size is 205/55R16. I don't know if that would change the OD of the tire or not relative to the base wheels.

Check to see if you have a lemon law in your state. GM also has a lemon law policy described on http://www.myGMLink.com. You should see if you qualify for it. 3rd time is a charm in most cases, but the time frames vary by GM and by state.Actually, I just looked on that site and I couldn't find it. T...

Re: spedo / gas mileage (joatmon)

If the CHP sign was right, then ifMy car reads 77mph, then at 77k miles on my odometer would mean that an actual 70 mph would be equivalent to 70k miles. That would mean the 36k warranty would be up at 32,725.That is what I think. Maybe I am doing "fuzzy math" If I am backwards, then I wou...

Re: Gas mileage woahs (UndaCuva)

At my bf's encouragement I began using synthetic oil (castrol syntec) in my last car (2000 dodge stratus) and my gas mileage increased from an average of 26 mpg to 29 mpg (2 to 3mpg). I haven't tried on my new vibe, though, b/c he also said not to use synthetic until the car is broken in (around 10k...

spedo / gas mileage

I have a 2005 AWD with approx 2800 miles. My gas mileage on my last fill up was 29.8 mpg which were all freeway miles. I was driving past a sign posted by the CHP which indicated my speed was 70mph. My spedo indicated I was doing 77mph. Question 1 - do I trust my speedo or the chp's sign?Question 2 ...

Single caliper with a dual piston. You cannot see the pistons from these views. Pistons are between the brake pad and the rotor.

sun visor size

I am 5'2" in my nike's. Since I am so short, my sunvisor is about an inch too short to effectively block the sun from my sides during my commute. I get the sun each way. Any ideas for a different visor or to make it taller?

You rock!I read the owners manual, and it tells you not to plug anything into the cigarette lighter, but to use the Accessory Power Outlet. I turned to that page which read that this was located in the center console. It does not indicate that is an option. This lead me to believe it was standard eq...

Re: Smoke odors... (ragingfish)

I read that you soak a cotton ball in pure vanilla extract (not imitation). By the time the vanilla completely evaporates from the cotton ball, the odor should be gone from your car. This is nice if you are allergic to those "air fresheners".

I tried this, and it disabled the passenger seat belt alarm in my 2005 Vibe, but not the driver's. You must do this when there is no weight on the passenger seat.1) Turn the Car 'ON', but do not start the engine (Leave your foot off the brake). Cycle your trip reset knob until it reads ODO. Turn the...

Re: Picked up my Salsa Today! How do I configure the back for cargo? (mexigrl)

I keep a bungee cord that runs from one side of the car to the other using the upper tie down hooks for the cargo cover. Undo one side, slide it through the bag handles, reattach, and that keeps the plastic bags from sliding everywhere. People are using their tiedowns that come with the car, but tho...

The alarm starts as soon as the key is turned. If you are in park and want to listen to the radio or let the car warm up as you are scraping the ice off of your windshield, the stupid alarm sounds if your belt isn't fastened. I always wear my seat belt when my car is moving, but that alarm is the on...

If you drove a vibe, you would know there is no trunk. A jug of milk or a laptop should not set off the sensor according to the owners manual. That is probably the source of the complaint.

Don't cut anything. I found the answer to this through a google search. I will post it within the next few days. It gets rid of the passenger seat belt alarm, but not the driver's side alarm.
