Re: Part #?

Should be a designation on the bolt itself. Should also be a listing in the Vibe/Matrix manual available elsewhere on this site. And, if you don't know how to i.d. bolts, a good hardware store employee should if you can bring one of them. I might be able to find some time a little later to look it ...

Re: Engine support bar placement

Place them as far apart as you can on the inside of the hood jam. I appreciate the response gtv237. Here's a shot of how the one I have looks. I'm concerned about the lack of space for that foot on the jamb. http://i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh501/AudiNick/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zpsxndkhcts.jpeg

Engine support bar placement

Forgive me if I'm repeating a thread posted elsewhere. I did a forum search and did not uncover anything on the subject. Can anyone that has used an engine support bar before on the Vibe confirm for me where the support feet should be placed? According to the one page instructions, that came with th...

Re: RDUNick's 03 GT

Should've searched Eonon posts in the forum. They sell a head unit that should fit perfectly into our dash bezel. I almost bought it but didn't have the cash at the time. Let me know how you like the unit, I'm still debating on swapping my current unit for the Eonon eventually. I appreciate the fee...

Re: RDUNick's 03 GT

Replaced the stock Nav head unit today with an Android based Eonon GA2114 today. Initial impressions are positive. The radio app reception is poor but I don't listen to the radio much anyway. Preferring to listen to my own playlists, podcasts are audiobooks. There wasn't much spare room to get it in...

Re: What did you do to your Vibe today?

Yes, on my old smart phone. Works well and it is neat that it can still update the app via wi-fi. I used to mount it in my instrument panel on the 10 GT. Don't have a handy place for it in the 03 GT though. I like that app as well. I just bought an Eonon HU that runs on Android and will be using To...

Re: What did you do to your Vibe today?

I replaced the emissions canister on the 03 GT today with a used one from a Corolla at my local LKQ Pick your Part. Hopefully it is good enough to stop the emissions codes it has displayed for months. Cross my fingers!!! Bad pic, but a beautiful sight with all green lights! Ready for emissions test...

Re: RDUNick's 03 GT

Umm, rear cargo cover and those sliding rail ties for the cargo area. If you have any plans to dress up your interior, you can always snag equivalent parts to work on without ruining your current ones or having to drive around missing exterior/interior pieces. You could always pull the header to po...

Re: RDUNick's 03 GT

All the parts are in to replace the flywheel and clutch so I cleaned out the garage and gave the GT a bath. I don't think it has been washed in years. Washing it gave me a better idea of the state the paint was in. No surprises for a car nearly 13 years old that hasn't been taken good care of. I am ...

Wow, it looks really good. You got a steal for $750 that's for sure. Hopefully the clutch replacement goes smoothly and you get it back on the road quickly. I think so too Thomas. RDUNick's 03 GT

Well I found exactly what I was hoping to. A black Gen1 GT. I had been search for a few weeks and one popped up on Craigslist overnight. The owner had bought it to, in his words "drive it till it stopped" which is what happened. The clutch went out on him and he didn't want to deal with ge...

Re: Future owner on the hunt

Official owner of an '03 Black GT as of today.

Picked it up for $750. It has 199k miles and needs a clutch.

It will definitely need to be cleaned up but the engine purrs and has brand new tires.

Now to get my hands on a FSM.

Any recommended maintenance?

Appreciate the feedback trb.

The small mechanical "nuisances" and the paint I can handle. I've painted quite a few vehicles in the past (cough decades ago cough).

The Vibe is intended to replace my Jeep for a daily.

Cheers

Re: Future owner on the hunt

Another detail about the gen1 GT is that the extra HP kicks in when you hit "lift", which happens at high RPMs, don't know if there's much HP difference between the 1ZZ and 2ZZ at normal (<6K) RPMs. I am not trying to talk you out of the fun of the GT, just wanted to make sure you knew th...

Re: Future owner on the hunt

The tranny issue is on the base model's 5 speed. You should be fine with any 1st gen GT and the 6 speed. In personal experience, I had an '05 5 speed go for 200K miles in my wife's Corolla, however it was a catastrophic failure when it finally went. It has a new tranny and we expect to get another ...

Future owner on the hunt

Good day everyone. I've been lurking the forum for a couple of weeks now reading through the posts and working on becoming better informed about the Vibe as I plan on purchasing one in the near future. I have been keeping my eyes open for a gen 1 GT and have found a couple of, what appear to be, gre...
