AC relay location

AC suddenly stopped when I was a full throttle passing a car and then did not turn back on once the throttle was lowered. I have no power to the compressor clutch. Cooling fan does not start when AC dash switch is pushed on. I am trying to identify the relay which kicks the AC clutch on and likely s...

Re: How many miles on your Vibes?

My 2006 Vibe has the special Toyota joke odometer. Not just on my Vibe but on Corolla's and Matrix's. At 299,999 km the odometer no longer advances. The trip meter works. The GM dealer acknowledges it as a recognized problem with no solution. I am at 500,000+ km. A couple of clutches from teaching t...

Re: antilock brakes

An update from original post. Ordered left front wheel speed sensor from Amazon.com. Amazon.ca did not have it. Once I realized all that had to be removed was the plastic inner fender and then only the very top part, it took less than 30 minutes to replace the sensor. The new sensor had an ohm readi...

Re: odometer stuck at 299,999 How to fix?

The interesting part of this situation is that the max number is 299,000 kilometers or miles so Americans get more use out of their vehicles.

antilock brakes

2006 Base Vibe with 5 speed. Ordered vehicle new with antilock brakes. Doing some maintenance which included new axle shaft on Driver's side, new lower ball joint, new struts all corners, new sway bar links. Was careful not to physically damage wheel speed sensor but currently ABS light and tire pre...

Re: Sensor in engine block

Thank you. This connector is more to the right and a bit lower than the two in your photo with a brown and a white wire. I got up around midnight because I was so pissed off with myself for disabling our only car. I do have the two WSM volumes but finding info in them is never easy, The volume with ...

Sensor in engine block

While changing heater and rad hoses on my base Vibe, I managed to pull the wires our of a connector that plugs in to a sensor in the engine block near where the heater hoses are. The sensor is in the end of the engine so one terminal is closer to the rad and the other closer to the firewall I manage...

Re: odometer stuck at 299,999 How to fix?

There is no way to get the actual mileage. Because likely Toyota corolla's are affected as well as Matrix's and Vibe's, I would try calling Toyota dealer, act like you have a CMatrix and ask them what you should do at inspection time, Start now because it may take some time to find what they advise ...

Re: odometer stuck at 299,999 How to fix?

Our 2006 vibe FWD 5 speed has been on 299,999 for a long time. It has been exceptional. No alignments yet. Planning on changing the struts to go another 300,000. One clutch I changed myself but I tow a boat and utility trailer plus taught a number of young people to drive a standard transmission. On...

rear view camera info

I have a wired rear view camera in my 2006 vibe with the monitor in half of the rear view mirror. The system was paid for by Workers Compensation due to a serious neck injury and installed by a local car audio place. It has the see in the dark feature which is nice. If you are considering such a sys...

Re: 2006 passenger air bag

Thanks Jasonvibe. Unlike the previous poster bluneon you have understood the challenge. I think it will be made easier because the air bag wires are all Yellow while those associated with the seat belts are not. I learned this when I changed my driver's seat because it was falling apart due to my we...

Re: 2006 passenger air bag

I want to continue to use the passenger seat for passengers and want a way to trick the system into turning off the air bag so I dont feel the need to comply with the recall notice wh...

Received recall notice for my 2006 vibe telling me the passenger air bag is being recalled but there are no parts available. Notice says DONT USE PASSENGER SEAT. 06 vibe rear hubs

I think I need to replace at least one rear hub on my 2wd 2006 Vibe with antilock brakes.
Besides buying the hub assembly and removing the rear brake drum and shoes is there any other cautions I should be aware of?

Re: Battery drain 72 hours, altenator/battery tested and goo

My 2006 base Vibe had to have the engine computer replaced. The check engine came on. If the computer is malfunctioning it could do weird things like trying to maintain pressure in the fuel injection system.

unknown cable tied to AC controls

I have a 2006 Vibe. Recently I removed the radio to replace the lights and found a control cable flopping loose behind the dash. http://i50.tinypic.com/29kpf1g.jpg The cable connects to the rotary switch which determines where the ventilation system air is discharged, i.e. in my face, on my feet, on...
