Actually, I was lucky enough to not have to beat on the floor. My sub was only about 4" high and the clearance under the seat was about 6". So that worked out nicely, I am glad I didn't have to physically damage my floor! I see pioneer makes a shallow mount sub now that has a full mounting...

It sounds very good I think. The bass is not real deep since it is only a 10", but has a nice tight sound.

My finished sub box

I know it isn't nearly as cool as anyone else's. But this was a fun learning experience since I had never messed with fiberglass before. The carpeting job is bad, but it still sounds good!

Ok I fixed it. The ground wasn't in the best spot, but the crossover switch was set too high on my amp, as was the gain. Here is the finished box. I know the carpeting job is shabby, but it sounds good.

A ground loop isolator? Pardon my n00bness, what is that? Also, I have noticed that the feedback changes sometimes when the car idles more or when I apply the gas while driving. Could this still be a grounding wire issue or could it be a problem with the REM wire maybe?

Subwoofer squeals, any ideas why?

Well, I built an under the seat sub box and everything was working fine, then a few minutes into testing everything out, the sub started to sqeal. You can barely hear it while the music is playing, but in between songs you can really hear the feedback coming from it. It is not a squealing sound from...

sound dampening materials

Has anyone here used any sort of sound dampening material; dynamat, ensolite etc? If so, approximately how much do you think you would need to do the front and rear doors? Any suggestions on which material to use and any other good spots to place it to reduce road and/or engine noise? Thanks

Re: (hobbiteater)

Ok, I just got a reply from one guy who has done this before off the matrixvibe forum. Here is the reply I got from raamaudio. This is a fairly involved undertaking, not much room to spare. On the stock seat version I had to tap down a circle on the floor about 8" diameter, 1/2" deep. Not h...

I am using a 10" sub, not an 8" Sorry for my ignorance, but what is this sub panel you are talking about? I guess I am not that familiar with this stuff yet. I'm still a n00b

As you can see from the picture, it looks pretty nice in his setup. From what I measured, there is roughly 6" from the bottom of the seat to the floor, and my sub was about 4.5" high. I was able to get in touch with the person that made this and he said they used MDF and fiberglass for the...
