My finished sub box

Post by hobbiteater »

I know it isn't nearly as cool as anyone else's. But this was a fun learning experience since I had never messed with fiberglass before. The carpeting job is bad, but it still sounds good!

Id say for s first try-Good Job! Just the fact that you took the time and effort to 'do it yourself' accounts for a lot! A. Bell's first telephone didnt look as finished as your project.

Actually, I was lucky enough to not have to beat on the floor. My sub was only about 4" high and the clearance under the seat was about 6". So that worked out nicely, I am glad I didn't have to physically damage my floor! I see pioneer makes a shallow mount sub now that has a full mounting depth of 3" or something like that. But I already had this sub laying around and didn't want to spend a ton of money on this little side project. I just need to trim the carpeting now so that it looks better and then maybe add a gasket or border around it.

That looks great! I wouldn't have even noticed the carpet had you not pointed it out. By the way, you didn't happen to take pics along the way did you?
