high idle when cold

every time I start my car after it's sat overnight, the idle settles around 1800RPM. way too high. it will settle down to 1000 after about 5 minutes, and after driving it idles at 600 at a stop light.any idea what's causing this high idle speed?

aftermarket speaker install question - not what you may expect

I'd like to know if anyone who's swapped out the stock speakers has noticed any new rattles that you attribute to removing and reinstalling the door panels? In my many years of working on cars I've become a bit leery of disturbing so many interior fasteners.

sound proofing

I'm thinking of installing one of those insulation type products meant to enhance stereo sound. I'm not really interested in improving stereo performance as much as I'd like to reduce engine and tire noise in the cabin. Am I going down the right path? If so, which product is best?

cloudy sky as good as shaded area?

I don't often have access to a shaded area to wash the car. Today is going to be cloudy all day with little chance of rain. We have a sunny weekend coming. Is a cloudy sky as good as a shaded area for washing the car? I know you can get sunburned through the clouds. Do you think I'll get waterspots o...

I'm not a dealer, but I can verify what joatmon says. The TSB is just a recommended fix for problems that are frequently reported. A problem identified in a TSB may or may not be covered under warranty.

Re: Has anyone used Lucus Oil Stabilizer in their Vibe GT (polaris1000)

You should make a copy of the article and hand it to the guy at the store that recommended this junk. These guys selling additives are a bunch of con artists. Engine oils are created at such high standards these days, with detergents, additives, etc. there's no reason you can't buy quality oil, chang...

Re: Bacteria in gas? (jake75)

I didn't hear about it, but who wants to be a zillionare? Secretly create a bacteria that breaks down unleaded fuel and create the antibody. Somehow get the bacteria into the fuel supply chain. A few months later, announce that your company devised the antibody. A simple additive that neutralizes th...

Re: Milage question (huy397)

Make sure you write down exact mileage and exact fuel amounts when you fill up. And do it a couple times then average it out. I'm not sure if the 40L number in your last post was rounded for our benefit, or if you rounded it before you did the calculations, but you need exact figures to get an accur...

thanks for the warm, and QUICK! welcome. I picked up a base model, but got the moon/tunes and power packages. It's outfitted quite well for the price. My friends are all shocked that you can get this much car for so little money these days. The only "mods" I'll make to this vehicle are a sn...

hello all - new owner, new to the board

I just picked up my base Vibe on Thursday after 4 months of car shopping. I decided it would be the perfect car for what I needed, and so far I couldn't be happier. You can see it here...http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=10656 thanks for posting the excellent shots of my Vibe Mojo. Just kiddin...
