aftermarket speaker install question - not what you may expect

Post by Rob Munro »

I'd like to know if anyone who's swapped out the stock speakers has noticed any new rattles that you attribute to removing and reinstalling the door panels? In my many years of working on cars I've become a bit leery of disturbing so many interior fasteners.

I installed new speakers in my Vibe when it was about a week old, then when I sold it last week, I bought some cheaper speakers at B.Buy and pulled out my Cerwin-Vegas and Crystals. Did not notice any rattling or loose door panels. My door panels had been off several times on the original installation also.I wouldn't be too worried as long as you mount the speakers securely. I also lined the rear speakers with some peal-n-stick weather stripping on the rear of them where they contact the door before screwing down to help eliminate any rattling.http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=785

Nah..only rattle I had was when I hadn't fully secured one of the crossovers for my component speakers. The actual fasteners shouldn't rattle unless you don't get them in quite right..
