Re: (houseofbugs)

I think it's around 7 quarts, so a little less than 2 Gals.Don't premix the coolant - it's tough to end up with the right 50/50 mix in the end because you probably will not get all the flush water out. Add 1/2 the system capacity in straight coolant then top off with water and you are all set. You c...

Re: Check Engine Light - P0133 - o2 sensor slow response (Mojo72)

I think the cold is affecting mine too. It's been a lot warmer lately and it looks like it's working OK again.I have used Bosch 'direct' replacements on other cars and never had any issue. But, I do remember reading somewhere that it's not recommended to use the 'universal replacement' types. I thin...

Check Engine Light - P0133 - o2 sensor slow response

Anyone have the actual diagnostic steps for this from the shop manual?I hooked up my scantool and monitored/graphed o2 output. Looks normal during driving but not what I expected during idle. Sometimes it was flat for a few seconds. I thought I read somewhere that this condition is actually monitore...

Exhaust manifold heat shield?

Anyone ever hear of the exhaust manifold lower heat shield loosing it's 4 bolts and dropping down? I'm not sure when exactly this all happened but that's what I found today. What sucks is that it was resting on the pass side inner CV boot and it was slowly shaving it - thankfully I saw it before it ...

Re: Engine low-rpm pinging? (ToolGuy)

Toolguy - thanks for the info.I mentioned the belt tensioner only because I know this has been a source of some noises coming from the engine compartment. To me this sounds like pinging. I guess one quick test would be to just run a tank of premium and see if it goes away.I'm familiar with Techron, ...

Engine low-rpm pinging?

Anyone ever have their Vibe sometimes make a rattle/spark knock type sound at low rpm (between 1500-1800) under light load?If I kick it out of OD, or bring the RPMs up and it's gone.Doesn't do it every time, but when it happens it almost seems it's going into overdrive too soon forcing it to lug the...

Re: (DopeVibeGT)

I tried making it through last winter with the stock Continental tires - no way do I want to go through that again. There are a lot of hills around here but it was nothing short of pathetic even on gentile inclines. So this year it's 15" steels with Hankook tires. Come to think of it, I hate th...

Floor heat

I think this has been brought up before, but it's my first winterwith the Vibe and I need to 'vent', so to speak.Where was the heating system (specifically the position that directs heat to your feet)tested? Southern California in August? It's pathetic. You get 1000% more flow froma hair dryer. To t...

04 Monotone Front Splashguard Mixup

I know this has been discussed elsewhere but I wanted to repost just so others don't make the same mistake I did. After repeated calls to dealers I was reassured that the part # listed in the Accessory catalog for the '04 would work in all cases...WRONG! If you have an '04 with the Monotone package D...

Very nice pics.I have driven in Italy many times. My advice is you better speed or don't bother driving in Italy because you will cause an accident.Italian driver skills are excellent - I miss being over there.

Re: coolant concern (Stang2Vibe)

I had a similar problem a while back with a BMW 3 Series. It would 'loose' about a cup or so of coolant every 10 months and there was never a sign of where it was leaking out of. I would just top it off and never gave it much thought and never mentioned it to the dealer. That was a BIG mistake. Afte...

I have 2 questions about hood deflectors:1) How are they mounted (assuming I don't drill anything)?--->Some closeup pix would be good!2) Do they really help from getting paint chips on the hood?

When I went to that site and looked for accessories for a 2004 the only splash guards listed were "Rear Set, Gray Grained Finish".When I look under 2003 both front and rears are listed.Do the front ones fit OK?

I'm glad I saw this post. I was going nuts trying to find the part # for the front mud flaps. Even the dealer didn't know what was going on.
