How much coolant?

Planning to do a coolant flush this weekend ( radiator & block ) but not sure how much coolant I will need. Im guessing 2 gallons???I did a search & found plenty of topics on "what type" but not how much.How much does the radiator & block hold anyway?

It takes 2 gallons of Dexcool 50/50 with water

I think it's around 7 quarts, so a little less than 2 Gals.Don't premix the coolant - it's tough to end up with the right 50/50 mix in the end because you probably will not get all the flush water out. Add 1/2 the system capacity in straight coolant then top off with water and you are all set. You can mix the stuff you put in the overflow tank.As for what type, that's up to you. If you get all the Dexcool out you can use something else. I don't run Dexcool and it's been fine.

Thx guys. I havent done my coolant flush yet. I already have a Gallon of prestone so ill just pick up another one.
