Automatic headlights

Last night my ALC system stopped working so when I got home I dug the manual out. One of the things it mentioned was if the emergency brake is on the ALC doesn't work, which makes me think there is a switch somewhere that the linkage trips when you pull the brake on. If there is a switch and being w...

1.8 versus 2.4

Any of you guys that have owned a Vibe with the 1.8 and now have a 2.4. Is there much difference in the performance? Is it worth getting the 2.4?

2009 Vibe

One of the reasons we bought our Vibe over the Matrix was because the Vibe had the side protection. I hate it when people bang you with their doors and tear the paint job up. I guess we don't buy a 2009.

Re: SLR Lens question: Is bigger better? (JSCampbell)

The reason the diameter is bigger is probably because it is a faster lens. I have a 70-200mm straight f2.8 lens which I use for concert photography shooting in available light. That lens has a 77mm front glass and weighs a ton. I have another telephoto that I use for casual shooting that is 28-300mm...

Pam

I read a tip on the net about easier bug removal after a long trip. It said to spray the front end of the car with the non-stick product Pam and the bugs will come off much easier.I don't think there is anything in the Pam that will hurt the finish, but I don't claim to be a paint expert. Is there a...

Re: Putting on roof spoiler, should I remove the roof rack cross bars? (satur9)

Two questions. Has anyone noticed any difference in gas milage after removing the cross bars? This has probably been answered already, but what is the procedure for removing them? I assume the end caps on one end or the other just unsnap but don't want to break anything.

Re: left front nois (Mr. Poopypants)

Update on the tire replacement. The dealer replaced the Continental tires with the set of Goodyear Eagle RSAs. End of problem, the car rolls down the road as quiet as can be.

Re: left front nois (OutLaW)

Update on the noise in the front end of the Vibe. My dealer is going to replace the Continental tires with a set of Goodyear Eagle RSA tires tomorrow morning. I'll let the group know how I make out with the noise.

Quote, originally posted by OutLaW »The wheel bearing don't have to have play in it to be bad. Most of the times they just make squeeling noises. They have play in them when you turn the radio up instead of getting it repaired. lol. Joking aside, You should get a second opinion about the wheel beari...

Re: left front nois (OutLaW)

I thought about it being a wheel bearing myself, but the service manager said they couldn't feel any play in the wheel bearing and it felt smooth when they rotated the tire.I told him I did maintenance work for over thirty years and had seen many bearings that felt smooth when you rotated them by ha...

left front nois

I am getting a noise from the driver's front end. If it was higher pitched I would call it a chirp but it is lower pitched so I guess you would call it a rumble. We can start to hear it at about 45 mph and it seems to get the loudest at around 55 or 60 mphIt's not real loud, in fact if there is a lo...

New battery

I'm glad I got the new upgrade battery put in a week ago today, we had fifteen below this morning and as stiff as the car was I don't think it would have started with the old battery.

Re: GPS unit for Vibe (frostyGT)

I've thought about rewiring the lighter but just haven't got around to getting to it.I don't have any problem with doing the rewiring as I was an industrial electrician for 30 years, but sometimes the hardest part of automotive wiring is figuring out the best way to get at the wiring. Maybe someone ...

Re: GPS unit for Vibe (huy397)

I have the SPIII deluxe from Garmin that I switch back and forth between the Vibe and my Impala. It's a great unit and I wouldn't think of going on a trip without it.If I was going to buy one now I think I would go with their new one, the 2610. My SPIII will only hold 128 meg worth of maps, which wi...

Re: battery upgrade (Sub-Vibe-R)

I called the dealer this afternoon and talked to the assistant service manager and asked him for the TSB number. He said he couldn't find it and that sometimes all they get is a voice mail from GM.

battery upgrade

This is probably something that GM isn't going to advertise, but there is a service bulletin on the undersized battery in the 2003 Vibe. I don't know if the 2004 has the same battery or not. If you live in a warmer climate you will probably not notice the problem as much as us people in the cold cou...
