2003 Vibe GT with 118000 miles. Time for first brake job!

The Pontiac dealer wants to rape me on the price, I was thinking of buying some aftermarket rotors and pads and doing it myself. Does anyone have any recommendations on certain brands and where to get them? Thanks

Re: Supercharger in 2zz future? (MailGuy!)

Just a thought here.. reading the article, is the supercharged car using the 2ZZ engine? Maybe they're using the 1ZZ with a bigger supercharger? Doesn't really say anywhere.

110,000 miles on my Vibe GT and I've got a bad Cat. and some weird noises?

That's right.. my 2003 has 110,000 miles on it so far and I've started having a couple of sporadic problems. The first is my check engine light has come on and told me I have a bad Catalytic Converter. Does anyone know how many converters a Vibe GT has? Is it strictly and emmissions device or does a...

Re: Vibe GTR with V6.... (russ257)

Bosch and Porsche are entirely different companies with no corporate affiliation. Bosch makes a number of automotive components for many vehicles including Porsche, but not drivetrains. The drivetrains in most Porsches including 996s are I believe made by ZF which uses Basteon Gearing.I'm pretty sur...

Re: Vibe GTR with V6.... (Pablo1669)

To comment on the drivetrain being disappointing? You must not own a GT? You tell me of a drivetrain on ANY GM car that compares in terms of quality of build, reliablilty and performance that is in the same price range as the Vibe GT/Matrix XRS. About the only thing that compares is the Corvette and...

Re: Vibe GTR with V6.... (SilverExpress)

I would have to agree with the guys who say that letting GM ruin the vibe with their poor quality Drivetrain and engine combinations would be Disastrous. I have owned several GM cars (80s, 90s and 2000s) and not one of them (Save the Prizm) has had either a decent build quality or performed well. Th...

High Mileage Vibes, anyone beat me?

I've had my Vibe GT since Feb. 2003 and I just turned 96,000 miles.. No.. that's not a typo! I use it for work, and I drive ALOT. I change the oil and air filter regularly, but haven't done anything else to the car. It runs GREAT! Can anyone beat that mileage?

Re: (MadBill)

I looks like a few people have more miles on there cars.. but I'm catching quick. My Vibe GT just turned 1 and I have 50,806 miles on it! I am easily on track to do that again this year. I haven't gotten any 'major scheduled maintenance' done either.. but I have been told to get the fuel injectors c...

Re: New Vibe GPX Package to be offered? (ragingfish)

I don't know if anyone saw the Scion exhibit at the show.. but they gave a way ahuge catalog all about their car and ways to customize it. The catalog even had 4 or 5 examples of Xa and Xb Tuner cars and what was done to them. If you go to their web site, you can pretty much factory order the car wi...

Re: New Vibe GPX Package to be offered? (NSimkins)

Well I knew it was too good to be true. To be honest, I'm more interested in the bumper trims. I wonder if Pontiac would sell the front and rear bumper fascias as after market add-ons? Maybe we could get enough interest to persuade them? Other than the trim, the paint, and the seats, it appears to j...

New Vibe GPX Package to be offered?

I was at the Washington DC Auto Show and they had a SWEEEET new Vibe GT with a GPX body package. I'm not sure if anyone had mentioned it yet, but the car came in a dark Gray color (I think they called it Shadow Black or something?) It was shod with 235/45ZR18 tires with beautiful Multi-spoke Alloys ...

Re: Poll: Who drives their Vibe alot? (NovaResource)

I think I may be the winner here.. I bought my Vibe GT last February and just turned 43,000 miles on it. I use it for work and love it! I'm planning to modify it this coming spring. A set of Eibach's some 18" wheels and possibly some body kits if I can find any that I like.
