Supercharger in 2zz future?

Post by MailGuy! »

Read this artcicle. Especially the part about lotus supercharging the Toyota engine to 243hp.http://www.edmunds.com/insidel...898#1Hopefully this will make it to the street lotus. Which in turn means it would become available to us for the Vibe GT, Celica, Matrix and "why bother having a lotus," MR2 w/2zz conversion.

Lotus claims the supercharged car will go from zero to 60 mph in under 4 seconds, and to 100 mph in under 9 seconds.that wold smoke any sportscar on the market..

well, i'd like to see that on an actual vibe and then what numbers they'd really be getting. i doubt a supercharger is going to pull those numbers as a stand alone or "bolt on" solution.

Just a thought here.. reading the article, is the supercharged car using the 2ZZ engine? Maybe they're using the 1ZZ with a bigger supercharger? Doesn't really say anywhere.

Well I dont think those numbers apply to the Vibe, Matrix a big difference alone is weight.

Ok folks, it is now a reality. Lotus has supercharged the 2zz and it's ready to sell here! Now, Vibe GT owners, get cracking on how to retrofit that supercharger on your ride for 220 ponies! More important, 165lb ft of torque! Here's the article:http://www.edmunds.com/insidel...16945*for those of you out of the loop, the Lotus Exige uses the same motor found in the Vibe GT. Pretty cool that your Vibe motor is good enough for a Lotus eh?!

sweetness, only problem is that the elise has a rear mounted motor so the SC would have to be custom with the intercooler and all. good news though and another option to SC other than greddy.

I wonder how much the Supercharger, intercooler, and all the other accessories would cost if you went to a Lotus dealer. Also how hard would it be to fit the SC on a Vibe.

I'm not sure. But if you found a wrecked Lotus in the boneyard, you could probably just yank the engine and ECU and bolt it directly to the Vibe Trans. All of this of course is in the future. It would take awhile for them to be sold and then wrecked here. I just really like the fact that, because I like my Vibe so much, if the motor dies someday years from now, I have more options to have fun hopping it up.

the 2zz greddy supercharger thats availible now might be a better option than waiting to find a wrecked lotus.
